I thought that was the news from the beginning.
No, the news in the beginning was 10 days to 2 weeks.I thought that was the news from the beginning.

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have placed guard Devin Brown on the injured list with a L4/L5 disc injury. Brown, who is expected to miss two-to-four weeks, has appeared in 67 games averaging 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 18.5 minutes per contest.
At the same time the Spurs activated forward Linton Johnson III. Johnson has been sidelined for the entire season with a left ankle stress fracture. The 6-8 forward, who signed with the Spurs as a free agent on 8/25/04, will be in uniform for tonight’s Spurs-Hawks game.
So it was the disc...![]()
Damn.
I'm no doctor, but a disc injury sounds career threatening to me. Or at least career altering.

If we manage to blowout the Hawks, maybe LJ3 can show us something....I really haven't known what to expect from him. At least he's familiar with our offense and defense.
Damn...Spurs just can't catch a break anymore.
That is bad news....
I was fully expecting Devin to get offered major bucks from other teams during the off season.
I wish him a full and speedy recovery, he represents San Antonio very well.
well brown will be a spur for sure next year now....
i am too
not a doctor...
but sean hannity is
call him and ask him about devin
"disc injury sounds career threatening to me"
Let's not be alarmist. Spinal disk are no joke, but an is not necessary sports career threatening, or persistant throughout life. Devin is yound with a very atheletic body, and the best medical attention money can buy.

It's bad enough after 40 as the disks lose hydration, flatten, and bulge out, reducing the free space arround nerves. Nerves more prone to being pinched, meaning back spasms and cramps.
Huge opportunity for Brent to start earning and justifying that salary.
But, after all, these injuries to serveral Spurs REALLY ING SUCK.
Hopefully Devin gets well quickly. I always wanted to see Linton get a little playing time, but not this way.![]()

An old SA story on his signing:
Spurs sign Linton Johnson Star in CBA but little else on this guy?
San Antonio Spurs News / Aug 25, 2004
The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed forward Linton Johnson III. Per club policy terms of the contract were not released.
The 6-8, 205-pound Johnson spent a majority of the 2003-04 campaign with the Chicago Bulls. For the season he appeared in 41 games for Chicago - with 20 starts - averaging 4.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per contest. Johnson first signed with the Bulls on September 29, 2003. He appeared in 18 games with Chicago before being waived on January 6. On January 9, Johnson signed with the Rockford Lightning in the CBA where he averaged 15.6 points and 8.5 rebounds in 21 games. He then re-joined the Bulls on February 28 - signing a 10-day contract with the team - and spent remainder of the season with Chicago.
Johnson played four seasons at Tulane University averaging 6.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 107 career games. He went unpicked in the 2002 NBA Draft after averaging 9.0 points and 6.5 boards as a senior during the 2001-02 season.
Are you asking why the Spurs signed him? (I'm not understanding why you posted the story of when they signed him.)Spurs sign Linton Johnson ANOTHER STORY on this guy, uh whats the excitement?
If you are asking why... they look at him as a good defender, long 3, who may be groomed to replace Bruce in the defensive specialist role eventually.
This injury can mean many things, could be minor swelling that could potentially be somewhat reduced by conservative therapy (or sometimes by interventional treatments, although those would rarely be a first step approach) or it could be more major. The fact he had some type of nerve injury with numbness and/or weakness peripheraly was most worrysome by his history to me. (However, certainly consistent with what the MRI showed seemingly).
However, I expect him to probably recover as well, seems to have a high pain threshold, be a physical specimen and he surely will do his rehab.
But will he back this year? = he may be more questionable for first series or end of year than TD.
Kori: I had edited thread before your response, a long defender would be huge and seemingly at least in one league he has scored some as well.
I am very eager to see LJIII get some time, but sorry it happened at Browns expense who was playing hard with TD down.
Expect he will contribute. Potentially either him or Glover on playoff roster - time to find out who we need more.
He has a horrible jumper, but can rebound and score around the basket. But his strength is on the defensive end.
, well, we're stuck with playing Barry now.
This injury kills the bench going into the playoffs.
We have no energy guy on this team now...
Manu is going to have to pull double duty as starter and energy guy...once he's healthy.
I took Atlanta + 12.5 pts tonight.
If that does not get the Spurs a win, nothing will.

He may be back in 2 weeks. The 2-4 weeks is given so that the fans and the press don't piss themselves if he is out for 2 weeks 3 days.
Relax everyone, looks like he can still be in the playoffs.
Even four weeks from today is before the playoffs start.
Maybe this will be some sort of blessing in disguise and Barry and the rest of the bench will get into rhythm.
