Grizzlies' Miles charged with marijuana possession
Grizzlies forward Darius Miles, banned 10 games last season for violating the National Basketball Association anti-drug programme, has been charged with marijuana possession.
Miles, 27, was stopped by police on Wednesday night for allegedly failing to use turn a signal. Police say a search of his car turned up a small amount of marijuana.
Miles was ticketed for driving with a suspended license, charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and released on 100 dollars bond.
Miles was with Boston when he was banned for 10 games last September for a violation of the anti-drug programme at the end of the 2007-08 campaign.
Known for his flamboyant dunks, Miles was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2000 and spent his first two NBA seasons with them before moving to Cleveland.
He was traded to Portland in January 2004, and the Trail Blazers signed him to a six-year, 28 million-dollar contract.
Miles, who had microfracture surgery on his right knee in November of 2006, didn't play for two years and was waived by Portland when a doctor deemed his injury was career-ending.
Boston then took a chance on him last August, before Memphis signed him last January for the second half of the season, a contract that expires at the end of June.
