Lawal could be a decent fall back option, if the more intriguing bigs or SFs are gone. (Monroe, Udoh, Sanders, Pondexter, James etc.). but a #20 might be a bit high. (there are a lot of mocks that rank him higher though)

he is a bit undersized, but not as much as some profiles that have him at 6'8''.
(measured 6'9'' in shoes last year, with 7'0'' wingspan and 8'10'' reach).
pretty much exactly the numbers of players like Haslem and Landry. and his ceiling might be a player in that mold. (maybe more Haslem than Landry)

NBA Mock Draft 4.0: Pitch Perfect
    By Tom Ziller

With just one week to go until the 2010 NBA Draft, it's time to give an opinion. Instead of guessing where players might go, in this mock draft I'll make a short pitch to each first-round club on which player they ought to pick. Again: this is not a projection so much as a set of suggestions.

Even though some teams and analysts focus on a Best Player Available strategy in every situation, I do take fit into account. If Player A is slightly better than Player B, but a team has a hole at B's position and logjam at A's position, it makes more sense to take B. But only if the difference in quality is slight. You can't pass up a potential world-beater to fill a hole at back-up point guard. Fit and need do matter.

    20. San Antonio Spurs: Gani Lawal, Georgia Tech

Lawal may be a few years older than teammate Favors, but he did produce at a similar level. S.A.'s frontcourt is in flux, with Tiago Splitter allegedly leaning toward coming stateside. But Lawal can likely pop in immediately and contribute on the glass and defense.
