I like having a fire outside my firebox so I can shovel "ready" coals into the firebox when necessary...
Steam injection into the firebox located under the tortilla warmer...
Cook box...there are sloped 1/4" plate pans under the grate that go to a drain...heat/smoke comes across under the pans then back across the meat...I can set it up to vent there if just using the cook box or divert back to the smoke box...
It is bigger than my entire kitchen...

my buddy's friend has one of those but 3-4 times as big. he brings it over to my buddys house from time to time just to cook a small amount of food which cracks me up cause you could serve a whole army if he actually cooked massive amounts of food on it.

I frequently cook for 40+ people and also will probably do a few BBQ cook offs...I've done them before on other pits and I wanted to build my own...I've been working on this thing off and on for 5 years...

Yeah, I didn't want to get it TOO big...I can cook 12 briskets if I double stack which is about all I will ever do...I didn't want it to be so big that it took a cord of wood to fire it...

That's always been a sticking point for my next pit. I want something large but I have to stop myself because I rarely cook for more than 15 people. Fuel isn't cheap. I think I paid almost 15 bucks for a large bag of lump. Plus the cost of mesquite and pecan seem to be going up.

Well MMMMYYYYYY Buddy's best Friend has one that is 8-10 times as big. He brings it over to my buddy's house to cook ONE hotdog. It makes me ROTFL cause he could serve a whole country if he actually cooked massive amounts of food on it.
Did I mention that you just have to talk into it to tell it how you want it cooked and it has a massage chair attached to it that has a fridge under it that holds a case of beer?
