Nice, except you have two #4 seeds and no #6. Not bad analysis for a dentist, though.
The road to WCFs is much easier from the 2 seed, compared to the 1 seed.
Here is the projected finish of the seeds and the pairings:
(1)Suns vs (8)Nuggets
(2)Spurs vs (7)Grizzlies
(3)Seattle vs (6)Sacto
(4)Dallas vs (5)Houston
Denver is better than Memphis and therefore a tougher 1st round opponent.
Round 2
(2)SA vs (3)Seattle -(6)Sacto winner
(1)Phoenix vs (4)Dallas vs (5)Houston winner
So as you can see, the road from the 2 seed is much easier. Dallas-Houston winner in 2nd round is much tougher opponent than Sacto- Seattle winner.

good point but, homecourt is important.
Isn't Sac the 6th seed right now?
Denver might catch Memphis. So you shouldn't try to get the 2 seed to get Memphis -- they might not be there. You just need to win as many games as possible and let the seeds fall as they may.Denver is better than Memphis and therefore a tougher 1st round opponent.
actually, i've watched memphis play phx this year, and they match up really well, I think they'd have a better shot at knocking off phx in the first round, or at least taking the series to 6 or 7 games
Memphis plays defense, something that befuddles Phoenix because they hardly ever encounter it.
What makes you so sure Denver is better than Memph? Why not go for HCA against any team in case we make the finals?
Round 2
(2)SA vs (3)Seattle -(6)Houston winner
(1)Phoenix vs (4)Dallas vs (5)Sacto winner
There is no easy road in the Western Conference Playoffs.
Yes, I messed up by putting a 4 instead of a 6.

Because, they are better. Look at their play since Karl took over the team and look at their wins compared to Memphis'.
Now Kori is right, Memphis can fall to 8th place because of Denver's play lately. But still the 2nd round is sooo much easier for the 2 seed. Because 4-5 is almost set with Dallas and Houston being way ahead of Sacto and Memphis, it is a given that the 1 seed has to play that winner, and Dallas is scary good right now.
AJ has Dallas playing very very good defense, and we all know what Houston is capable of doing as far as playoff type defense.
I am not so sure that the Suns can beat either Houston or Dallas because of that defense, so SA might end up with WCFs HCA afterall.
Therefore, my contention that 2>1 stands.
I agree. I made that point last week. Being 2 or 3 is not bad under the cir stances. (still think you want #1), but I think 4 or 5 (dallas or hou) will take out Pho and the Spurs will have home court in the WCF. Still need TD at at least 85-90% though. Without that this is all mental exercise.
Bigvee, the seeds are not set from 5-8, but 1-4 are pretty much set. I see no way to catch Phoenix anyway, as they have many more home games than SA has and they are 100% healthy.
Sacto can move down to 8, and Houston can move to 7 and if that happens, then Phoenix gets it easier. But with Dallas at 4, Phoenix is in a tough 2nd round matchup.
No way does Seattle catch SA to get 2 seed...SA is lock at that position pretty much.
Yeah, you are right. I just think Hou will get the 5, and have one of a first rounder with the Mavs. I also think the Spurs can handle the Sonics with or without HC. Wed. will go along way toward securing the 2 spot.
good analysis Jimbo, i have no worries til detroit with a healthy TD...and i don't know why, but i'd rather our Spurs play the nuggets than memphis....
I think Sacto, with their injuries can fall to 7 seed as well. That would put SA is a great 1st round matchup.
Ideally, Denver stays #8, Sacto moves to 7 and Memphis gets 6.
