I long for the day when Architects, and not builders, are principally responsible for generating a design for a house.
Got this from another website and since there's a nice real estate discussion going on in my Stone Oak thread, figured I'd post it.

Found another:
Price: $1,100,000
Bedrooms: 5
Bathrooms: 4
Square Feet: 2,143
Description:
VERY IMPRESSIVE FOR YOUR DISCRIMINATING BUYER Elegant Mediterranean style, unique landscaping, separate detached guest house (approximately 1143 sqft. extra), exquisite interior finish, Cantera columns, beautiful pool & great views. $1,100,000
Those are some bad pads.
A million bucks for 3,000+ sq feet (2,143 +1,143) is horrible. That's worse that the prices in L.A.
The price on this one isn't bad.

Wouldn't a house like that cost like 5 million in LA?
I've seen smaller homes go for more.
our house in la is 4800 sqft
it was 1.8 mill
There's no way a 2,000 sq foot house with a guest house would cost $5M in L.A.
Where in LA?our house in la is 4800 sqft
it was 1.8 mill
oh i was lying out my ass
i hate LA
Kori,
Found this:

In LA
Price: $1,699,000
Sq Ft: 1,695
Bedrooms: 2
Baths: 2
Car Garage: 2
Yeah that's pretty unusual.
You usually can get around 3,000 - 5,000 sq feet for anywhere from 700K to a couple million. But it depends greatly on which part of the city, of course.
Of course you can also find houses in excess of $20M if you look.

I'm looking at that pic of that 2,143 sq ft house, and I'm thinking, no way is that only 2,143. The foundation footprint on that house looks to be 3000-4000 sq ft, and it's multi story in places.
