Hey gang, I hope someone can help me.

i have a brand new computer, itīs a generic case , has a asrock g31m-s brand motherboard, The computer hangs when shutting down :-(

itīs so frustrating because i have tried everything, the computer will shut down fine when itīs reformatted, but after adding some crucial drivers such as lan, graphics, audio, etc.. itīll then hang when shutting down.

I tried going to msconfig and disabling all startup items, still nothing.
iīve tried everything, can someone give me more suggestions or if someone had the same problem can they tell me what they did to solve it ?

the computer will say saving ur settings , etc... but at the point where it is sayīs shutting down, itīll just hang.

This behavior can occur if you have PACE InterLok anti-piracy software installed on your computer. InterLok installs the Tpkd.sys driver, which uses the same IRQ as the Standard Floppy Disk Controller device.

    or try this.

    Click Start and then Run...

Type in REGEDIT and press enter.

Go to the following Registry Key.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP

On the right pane there is a reg item called AutoEndTasks. Double click on it and change its value from 0 to 1 and reboot after clicking OK as many as necessary to close all open windows.
    Windows XP Shutdown Problems

    Modify Hung App Time

    Start/Run/Regedit. Navigate to...
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

In the right pane, choose HungAppTimeout/Right Click/Modify/Change Value/Exit/Reboot.

    Force Program Exit

    Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop In the right pane find, "AutoEndTasks" (Create if not present). Set the Value of 0 or delete it. No reboot needed.

    Disable Error Reporting

    Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Advanced/Error Reporting/Disable.

    1. Try Start - Run - type in "msconfig", and click the Startup Tab.
    2. Bottom Right, click "disable all", then apply, then close and have it reboot (it will probably still hang on shutdown right now).
    3. After you have it restarted, put a check in the checkbox of the system config utility window, and then hit OK. Now shutdown again.

check off a few start up programs you don't need download this.....
