Spurs have been the more consistent franchise post Jordan. But, the Lakers, while have a much lower low particularly in 2004-05, are the more successful and better franchise post Jordan. It's close though, and obviously no other franchise is even in the discussion post Jordan. But, unlike some Spurs fans, I think making it to the NBA Finals two other times but losing, to go along with the the three-peat, gives the Lakers the edge.

Spurs team of the decade, just let them have it, who cares, Lakers have 15 les and already have a team of the decade, the Spurs never won before Duncan and probably won't win again once he's done whereas the Lakers have proven they can keep winning time after time after time.

Lakers win doesnt take ANYTHING away from what the Spurs did they have been the most consistent franchise in all of pro-sports since Duncan and Pop have been together ... Lakers were the most dominant team of this decade ...for a short time ...fell off but deserves props for climbing back on top ...
Spurs fans want this mystical le then lets settle is next year from '99 to 2009 it's a tie in rings we have two more Finals appearances including making it 3 timres in a row early and back 2 back late. BUT whatever whomever goes further NEXT year gets the all-important mystical team of the decade le? Because that is what REALLY matters right?!

Los Lakers fans may still enjoy the discovery of America by Columbu, while ignoring that continent has been free from Spanish occupation for many decades.
The old years have already walked behind our steps and should no longer be a stuff deverving any bragging. From 2006 the Lakers only have won 1 championship, which is exactly the same number as what the Spurs and Mavs each have got respectively.
Spurs fans have you actually looked back on the 12 years and thought to yourself... how many times the lakers have beat us in the playoffs during those twelve years? how many times did they beat us during the regular season? how many times did they foil our chances at repeating? how many times we made it to the finals and how many times did they make it to the finals?
if you look before 98....and as i recall you guys missed the playoffs badly in 96 which allowed you guys to draft a number one pick and a future top ten player of all time. how is that different from 2005? just one... we didnt get the number one pick... we got 10 and he happened to not be a factor during the 09 finals... the lakers went to the bottom and came back with dedication, hard work, and determination.... THAT.... and Shaquille Oneal in the early decade has made the lakers the team of the decade... enough said... the spurs are a distant second followed by the pistons, follwed by the celtics, followed by the heat, followed by the suns, followed by the maverics etc..
