In respect to Mitch Hedberg, who are the funniest people ever?

    Bill Hicks
    Lenny Bruce
Andy Kaufmann (I'm still waiting for him to tell us it was all a joke)
George Carlin (although lately he's just a grump old man)
    Richard Pryor
Bob Newhart (I'm referring to his records from the 60s)
John Belushi ( I cannot look at that guy and not bust a gut)
    Carlos Mencia

    Thought of a few more:

    Ernie Kovacs
    Sam Kinnison
    Bobcat Goldthwaite
    Steven Wright

I'll can't remember the last time I laughed at George Carlin material.

I would add David Cross to that list. ... and Robert Schimmel .... Richard Jeni has his moments. I watched Greg Giraldo's stand-up recently and he was pretty damn funny.

I caught Schimmel at the Laugh Stop in Austin about 10 or so years ago. He was funny. But then I saw Hicks. This guy was it. I don't think I've ever been in such pain from laughing. If Bill were still alive today he'd be in his element with Iraq, Schiavo, FCC, Bush, and the like. Damn I miss that guy!!

I saw Richard Pryor's first concert movie "Live In Concert" when it first came out around 1980.

One of my suitemates in college had the album and we played it so much we had it completely memorized.

The movie was almost exactly the same material as the album. And we still nearly died.

It was the only movie I've ever been to where there were people LITERALLY falling out into the aisles laughing.
