I doubt it
our current roster:
PG: T. Parker (13 mil/2011) / G. Hill (1 mil/2011)
SG: E. Ginobili (11 mil/2010) / R.Mason (4 mil/2010)
SF: R. Jefferson (14 mil/2011) / M. Finley (3 mil/2010)
PF: T. Duncan (22 mil/2012) / M. Bonner (3 mil/2010)
C: I. Mahinmi (1 mil/ 2010)
with the trade of Richard Jefferson, is there still any possibility that we could make any deals to get into the 1st round on draft night, since there's so much talk about us moving into the 1st round the past few weeks.
If anything this deal makes the possibility of moving up better than ever.
It was highly doubtful that the Spurs were going to trade up into the first round. This trade makes it even more doubtful.
It probably wasn't going to happen, anyways.
There is always a possibility some team doesn't want the guaranteed first round salary on their books next season -- but it's just as likely the Spurs are now one of those teams.
A lot of teams picking in the mid to late 20s are looking to move their pick. I believe its still possible for us to buy a pick. I'd still like to grab someone like Sam Young though we may need a PF/C that can come in and contribute now.
This trade makes it less likely that the Spurs simply draft-n-stash three times. At 37, it makes sense to now look for a player to put on your active roster.
Ahmad Nivins with the 37th. Book it.
timvp do you have your wishlist ready for #37? will we make a ST mock draft this year as well?
I'll start of the cheat sheet tonight.
As far as the mock draft ... I usually don't set it up and it's too late now. Probably not worth it anyways considering the Spurs don't have a first round pick.
