The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill
    6/28/09

The Utah Jazz saw reserve power forward Paul Millsap play a vital role in their playoff run in 2008-09, however if they want him to be apart of their long term plans, his pricetag won’t come cheap. The Deseret News reports today that Millsap, who is a restricted free agent this summer, will be getting an offer from the team as soon as the negotiation period begins this week. Millsap’s camp has been sending out feelers that they expect to receive an offer comparable to what Knicks forward David Lee will be getting on the market this ummer, upwards of $10 million a year. If the Jazz go forward with Millsap, Carlos Boozer will likely be suiting up somewhere else(Detroit?).

News out of Orlando has their eyes set on two free agent power forwards with the likely departure of Hedo Turkoglu. Mavericks forward Brandon Bass and Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace are both likely targets for Orlando to sure up the frontline, and shift Rashard Lewis back to his natrual position of small forward.
The Dallas Morning News reports that while the Mavericks remain to state re-signing Jason Kidd is their priority this summer, they will have compe ion for his services. Teams reportedly interested in the future Hall of Famer include the Knicks, Celtics, Lakers, Cavs, and Blazers. Of those teams, Portland would be able to offer the most money.
The Amare Stoudemire to Golden State talks aren’t dead, but certainly don’t look too bright now that Stephen Curry won’t be apart of the deal. We could see the Warriors attempt to draw this out for a few days, even weeks, to see if the Suns get antsy about moving
Amare, and then drop their counter. Whether the Warriors deal gets done or not, most in Phoenix feel Stoudemire has played his last game as a member of the Suns.

No he's not. Millsap is basically Shawn Marion only less about athleticism and more about size, one underrated problem the Suns had was that Marion was getting paid 6 million more than he deserved and it completely killed their luxury tax flexibility.

look at the game logs between nov 24 and dec 23

if $10mil/yr got him to put up those type of numbers consistently especially during playoffs, 10/yr would be a discount

i remember him cause of fantasy basketball. if you got him right after the boozer injury you landed a huge steal, esp. since you'd get him off FA

Yep. That was Millsap when Boozer was injured. That is the beast I remember. However, unlike Boozer, Millsap needs someone to feed him the ball.

No way Millsap gets 10 mil a year. I'd love to see him back but not at that price. He burnt out pretty quickly and he only started less than half the season. That's not worth 10 mil a year.
