Nope, Bosh is going to a bigger market.
Forgetting the salary issue (for just a moment). Is there anyway anyone can see us getting Chris Bosh? Either this season or next summer?
If he's pretty much a certain to leave Toronto, would it be a good idea to offer a lesser player and say 1 or 2 number 1 picks to the Raptors to get him? It allows Toronto to get something for Bosh as opposed to nothing if he leaves in 2010, and if we give up 2 numbers 1's Toronto's (never ending) rebuilding project is well underway.
For us, we get a big across from Timmy who can really score. This might allow Duncan to use more of his energy on D as he ages. Ala Robinson when Duncan came in....
Obviously, I may be sitting in fantasy land by suggesting it, but Bosh is a Texan. Is it worth 2 number 1's to rent him for a year, and then chose to sign him or Manu after next season? (We can't probably do both.)
Obviously, when you include the money in this we'd be even more in luxury tax , but it would only be for 1 season. In 2010 he or Manu come off, in 2011 Jefferson.
So my questions:
1. Would Toronto go for something like that?
2. Would it be worth giving up #1 picks and possibly someone like Blair to get Bosh?
3. Forgetting money and the probability of it actually happening, would Bosh even be a good fit in our system?
If we could somehow sign Bosh long term, he and Tony could be the building blocks to keep the Spurs a top contender for 5 years or so, even after Timmy says goodbye. (Or perhaps keep Duncan around as a role player, definsive specialist. He'd only be 38 at the end of that time. Shaq's still useful near that age.)

Bosh will be joining Lebron in New York next year.
I always thought that Bosh was the 2010 plan, before the Jefferson trade put an end to it. Bosh & Duncan side by side is a something every Spur fan would love to see, but unfortunately I don't think it's very likely now.

Bosh wasn't ever coming to San Antonio and the Spurs knew it and went in another direction.
If true, his loss. Arguably the best organization in sports, his home state, a tradition of good (and classy) big men.
But, if Bosh would rather get his face on the back of the NY Post playing for 50-loss a season Knicks, I guess he can have it. I have seen nothing out of the "new" Knicks that makes me think they will get Lebron to pair with Bosh in a year's time. Miami maybe more likely for Bosh.
IMO Toronto may consider a Bosh for Ginobili + some fillers to make the salaries match + Splitter rights + a first round pick. And if I'm Buford I'd go for that. The Spurs go onto win the 2010 championship, Bosh onto win the finals MVP, then you offer Bosh some good money, get him a nice comfortable home on the state he was born and I think he may consider staying in SA instead of going to a bigger market.
I would not want to give up Ginobili for Bosh. Even if it is logical, Bosh being younger and without injury issues. Manu brings so much to this team, I would want to give him at least one more full season to see if he can help us win. I think loyalty to our players should extend that far, otherwise their really just gladiators. People we root for but don't really care about.
As for the deal itself you suggest for Bosh, that would probably get the Toronto GM to agree, but would be pretty rich. I think he could be had for less as they know he's leaving. But it sounds like a moot point if he doesn't really want to play here. It would be one year at tops, then he'd leave for a bigger market.

There's really almost no chance he leaves without Toronto getting some decent value in return. Toronto can give him a 6yr deal with 10.5% annual raises. If he signs with another team as a FA he can get a 5yr deal with 8% annual raises. This comes to a difference of 25-30M in guaranteed money.
Assuming he is not traded before the end of this season, it will be in his interest for Bosh to let his agent work with Toronto to move him in an S&T. He gets all his money and Toronto gets tangible assets in return.

I would think so. But many others here tell me his highest goal is a bigger market such as NY! I would hope his highest goal would be a championship.

Bosh if traded to the spurs which won't happen because Toronto will get better offers then what the spurs are willing to put together, would likely stay with the Spurs.
But Bosh was a longshot to sign with the Spurs and Pop even said so himself. Pop said it was better to get the sure thing in Jefferson to improve the team then hope to land bosh or any other big name free agent next year.
Sure, why not? Maybe we can add him and maybe Artest, Odom and maybe we can trade for Lebron James.

Sarcasm doesn't do anyone any good. And if you bothered to read my original post, you'd notice I mentioned the luxury tax.
However, the more I learn about Bosh as a player, the more I think he would be a poor fit for the Spurs' system.
Bosh sucks because he is not on the spurs. If the spurs got him I am sure you would not be writing that he sucks.
