After the Mavs helped Orlando out by including them in the trade that netted them a TE, I'm sure there is an unspoken understanding that Gortat will be a Mav.
decide to resign Gortat or maybe do a sign & trade. That;s what the rumor is now. Talk about being messed up considering the Mavs just helped Orlando out by including them in the Marion trade.
Cuban needs to be talking to other free agents and try and make them wait till next Wed when we'll know what the Magic do. He needs to be in talks with Bass and his agent as well.

Magic would have matched by now. They probably realize that Gortat isn't worth the full MLE as a back-up center for them considering all the money they put into guys like Howard, Lewis, and adding Vince Carter. Gortat at least has a chance to make that contract worth it for the Mavs. On the Magic, he really isn't anything more than a 10-15 mpg rest for Dwight Howard.

Orlando has quite a few roster spots to fill now and Smith said he will probably split their MLE up instead of using it on one guy.
the magic wanted mcdyess and even have place gooden on the radar so they are looking but not finding. they need to see if they can find a cheaper version of gortat soon and if they do not then they may decide to match the offer. it is not as if there are a lot of bigs left out there.
