Matte or Glossy

Hi guys,

I am currently looking at large, wide-screen monitors, such as the Samsung T260. I was wondering what type of screen you guys prefer--matte or glossy?

Matte. Unless it's going in a really dark room.

It usually seems to be general user preference, but from what I can tell, the matte finish seems to be more effective as a display, whereas the glossy just looks nicer from outward appearance sitting on the desk.

People who depend on picture and color clarity, or people who work in high light situations (especially with portables) seem to be more inclined to go with matte finish. Trying to see your screen on a sunny day with a glossy screen is damn near impossible.

However, if it's going to sit on a desk in an ambient light situation, the glossy definitely looks nicer when it's all and span.

I like glossy but make sure its not in a room with a lot of sun.

Matte always looks good!!! IMO

glossy is better for movie viewing but I am a matte guy myself if we are talking pc monitors.

Thanks for the tip guys! I'm going with matte. I have a big-ass window behind my desk, meaning the sun will shine directly on the screen.
