Don't put this post on your resume if you ever apply for a job as an NBA scout.

he still hit big shots in every fourth quarter of every 2003 playoff game

but i guess its understandable to be glad we dont have that anymore

So thats what 2 years ago and the entire playoff game is about "clutch" and peak performing. SJax overall wasn't that hot from downtown. He made some sweet baskets and we all loved it. HOWEVER there is no indication that he will ever do it again he has missed many clutch baskets this season.

I remember a "Has Sjax lost his mojo post" or something similar.

    2 words, Robert Horry.

and Tim Duncan is good in the clutch, watch the suns game he drains all his fts down the stretch and dominates the OT.

TD also the game winner earlier in the season of the Parker pic and roll. He hadn't hit a jumper from there all game.

    BLAH blah and more blah
i never implied he was hot from downtown for the whole playoffs, for a series, or even an entire game (but he was hot for entire games here and there in the playoffs, so there)

All i was saying was when he was with us, he hit LOTS of fourth quarter wide open 3 pointers. So what if it was 2 years ago? 1 year ago no single spur even came close to doing that.

I bet you he gets less open shots in indiana than playing with the greatest player alive...so u can't compare his performance now on another team by straight up numbers

I hate guys who have a habit of hitting multiple 3's in a row in deciding playoff games.

    Yuk.

I'm starting to believe more and more that clutch shooting is just a function of how good a team is. Look at Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant as prime examples. Duncan was considered a horrible 4th quarter player for years (I'm thinking 2000 through 2002), when he was responsible for doing so much and just didn't have it in him to finish. By 2003 the Spurs surrounded him with serious talent and all of a sudden he's burying buzzer beaters in the faces of Pau Gasol, Karl Malone, McGrady, Malone again (too bad it didn't win the game ) , etc... rewind to just last year and Kobe's hitting the craziest I've ever seen an NBA player do. Shaq and Malone took so much pressure off the guy. Now he has his own team and misses every game winner save the one against Charlotte.

Do you remember when Allan Houston was considered a clutch player? He had a damn good team around him (Ewing was playing great D and boarding well, Camby was a monster, LJ was on fire from the 3 point line, and Spree was unreal)
