Just asking for the beta testers out there. I am going to be building a new computer soon and am just wondering whether I should install Windows XP or Windows 7. I have heard that Windows 7 is a huge leap over Vista. Any info???

I like Vista more than XP, but I would definitely say 7 is better than either of them by a clear margin.

Thanks for the hasty reply. Any idea if it will be able to optimize the i7 processor? I really want to unleash this beast of a computer that I am about to build. (just need to get my last graphics card).

    I'm sure it will be.

Are you custom-building this rig? Please tell me you're not paying a company to do it for you unless it's cyberpower.

What vid card are you planning on going with?

    2x GeForce GTX 295

I am building this computer myself. All the computers that I have personally built I have no problems with. The ones that I have bought from companies go to after 1 year or something.

So... at this stage, would it be smart to change from Vista Ultimate 64 to Windows 7 64? I'm always a little bit hesitant to change OS right after they launch, specially when it comes to Microsoft. They don't have the best track record.

Anyway, should I? and if so, what build should I get?

Windows 7 is actually probably a better OS right now -- as is -- than anything MS has put out before. I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on a Win7 system.

However, I have had reports that the i7 processor is not as fast for gaming. So that's something to think about if you decide to go with it.
