Tolerance does not mean you accept every view. It does not mean you agree with every view. It doesn't even mean you might not shout that view down, or call someone stupid for expressing that view.
Being tolerant means I don't want to throw you in jail or kill you for something you say. It also means I'll at least give you some time to explain your position.
Once you'd explained it though, and it sounds re ed, it doesn't mean I'm not tolerant when I call you dumb, or that your idea is stupid.
Just an FYI. People seem to think that 'tolerance' means that a person has to accept every ridiculous idea out there.
You may now return to your scheduled programming.
