I've had my ASUS laptop for exactly 3 years. It's done its job, but I think it's time to get a new one. The screening is slowly falling apart, the hinges are loose as (always has been, had to constantly open it up tighten them), and the computer doesn't turn on sometimes. I'd rather just start fresh.

I'm looking for a quick, semi-portable laptop that can get me through my last year of grad school. I don't plan to play much games on it, but if I can get a video card under my budget, I'll oblige. I'll carry it to and from the office daily. I'll take battery life over 2 hours, 13.3-15" screen. I'll be using Adobe suite products, Office products, iTunes, Video converters, etc.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

These guys have great deals and their tech support is excellent too. Probably the best pound for pound laptop company that's out today.

Usually you can find great deals here as well:

Every other day or so a laptop comes across for sale with usually good specs.

    Tigerdirect is always good.

9800 Go GS is pretty solid for a vid card.
