Curry to undergo more tests for irregular heartbeat

CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Bulls center Eddy Curry will be evaluated by specialists in Boston and Minnesota for an irregular heartbeat that has sidelined him since March 30.

A battery of tests performed on Curry during the past week were inconclusive, the Bulls said Thursday.

``I'm feeling fine and really miss my teammates, but I agree with the medical staff with regard to going through this process in a thorough, conservative, cautious manner,'' Curry said in a statement.


Bulls general manager John Paxson said the team wants to make sure Curry is ready to play when he does return.

``Our first priority is Eddy's health, and we are going to be absolutely certain we have all the answers we need before he returns to the court,'' Paxson said.

On Monday, Curry was released from Rush University Medical Center, and Bulls team physician Dr. Kathy Weber said his heart problems had dissipated. Paxson said at the time that Curry could be back playing ``by the end of the week.''

The Bulls have gone 3-1 without Curry, who leads the team with 16.1 points per game. Chicago has to win two more games to clinch a playoff berth for the first time since the 1997-98 season.

After releasing a statement saying that Eddy Curry needs further examination before resuming basketball activity, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that team officials are preparing to go without Curry for the remainder of the regular season and potentially the playoffs.

The Bulls have played this one very cautiously from the get go, so we'd advise fantasy owners not to expect anything from Curry from here on out. Ot a Harrington has played well in Curry's absence all season and will be the biggest beneficiary of the big man's absence.
