Props to Jeff Foster. That's a really prestigious and tough ins ution. Everybody knows Texas State by its nickname "The Harvard of Central Texas"

I went to Southwest Texas...aka Texas State before they changed the name for stupid reasons...I had a class with Jeff back in 1998.
I went to UT-Austin...had a class with Ricky Williams back in 99.
He was a very nice and unassuming guy. Didn't put on airs or act like the Big that he was.
School starts next Thursday.
Actually, it starts Wednesday. And if you need a parking permit, you'd better get online and get it now.
I only go Tuesdays/Thursdays. The biggest problem are the bookstores not having books in stock.

S.A. NBA player Foster set to earn degree

Tears of joy flowed 10 years ago this summer when Linda Foster heard her son's name called in the first round of the NBA draft.
Another Kleenex moment is expected today when Indiana Pacers center Jeff Foster walks across the stage to pick up his bachelor's degree at Texas State.
Linda Foster, going into her 19th year as principal at Alamo Heights High School, stopped to think for a moment Thursday when she was asked to compare the pride she feels in her son now to that magic moment in 1999.
“I had tears knowing that (the draft) was a huge event, and I think this is huge event for his life, as well — as well as for his children,” Linda Foster said.
As she spoke in a telephone interview, Linda said she had her hands full with two grandkids. She was watching 3-year-old twins, Carter and Elle Foster, as Jeff had left for a mid-morning workout.
It was the start of a big weekend for the Fosters.
Jeff's grandparents are coming into town for the ceremony, scheduled at 2 p.m. today at Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos.
The family will have a party tonight, with more people invited. Linda Foster said she is happy that Jeff's kids will be able to soak it all in.
“I'm glad they're going to be able to remember this and be a part of this,” she said.
A former All-Area player at Madison, Jeff Foster attended Southwest Texas State from 1995-99.
Foster, a two-time All-Southland Conference performer, started hearing during his junior year that he might have the opportunity to play pro ball.
Given the money at stake, he dropped some classes in the spring semester of his senior year to give himself more time to prepare for the NBA predraft camps.
Foster's strategy worked, as the Golden State Warriors picked him 21st overall in the first round. The Warriors immediately traded his rights to the Pacers for Vonteego mings and a future first-round pick.
He has played in Indianapolis ever since.
Foster has enjoyed some big moments in his career, but the graduation ceremony has a different feel.
“I'm excited,” he said. “It's been a long time coming.”
Foster claims he's the oldest (age 32) and only grandchild in the family tree not to have finished college.
Today, he finishes.
After completing three correspondence courses the last two summers, Foster has earned a degree in Applied Arts and Science.
“Having the kids just made me realize that this basketball thing will come to an end some day, and that I should get this done,” he said.
