After this punk leaves as a ing sop re, the TE position at Texas is officially cursed.

Blaine Irby showed mad promise, a young D. Thomas last year, until his knee exploded against Rice. He's still out for this upcoming season.

Then during this training camp, the next TWO TE's on the depth chart are out the season with injuries. One from an exploded knee, the other from a recurring stinger.

This leaves us with true freshmen to play at TE or just go full spread. This blows.

Hopefully we can run the damn ball without a decent TE.

cant wait for someone to exploit this weakness. Texas will adjust by moving players to that position in certain situations. But those situations will be known by week 5 of the season.....Colt is a great player, but he cant be in the shotgun forever and the spread is not the primary mode of offense for the snorh. Their running game is gonna suffer tremendously....especially when running backs try to turn the corner....

This is not the worst thing for the snroh, but a weakness is a weakness....

    Oh and I agree....f*&^ Jermichael!

you forgot josh marshall who quit football because of a brittle shoulder

anyway we played all last season with this weakness, in running situations, we bring in a blocking tight end or a third tackle, on passing downs we flex dan buckner or run 4 wide like we did all of last season

really dont see how this can be exploited, unless defenses game plan was to double team, spy or shadow ian harris

Can't it be exploited by calling up a run defense play because you know UT is going to run when they trot out a worthless third string blocking TE?

true but even they can run to a spot and attract a LB or safety

or fall down blocking and run an out like thomas used to do

not that these guys will be deep threats or catching 5 balls a game

and thats why dan buckner is blocking right now

its kind of easy to know when we'll run anyway these days because we pass every play except third and short and goaline

They'll find someone who can fill in without it being a noticable weakness. Even if its a freshman, they ususally find a way.
