I seriously just saw a commercial about this on the Discovery Channel.
Supposedly some mysterious planet, called planet X (supposedly discovered in the 1980's), is looming just outside of our solar system and when the planets align in 2012 its going to reek havoc on our solar system.
They are actually taking candidates for post-2012 leadership elections.

My thinking it has to be some type of viral advertising for the movie. I cant believe anyone would really take this seriously after the Y2K bug fiasco.
