I've always thought the biggest problem the Spurs had, was physical training. Both off-season and during the season. Injuries can't always be avoided, but intense physical training can minimize it.
Bowen, at one time, was the most consistent Spur at not missing games due to injuries. From my understanding, he was the one of the most intense at training as well. I firmly believe that had a ton to do with his longevity and comparable lack of injuries. And playing D can be way more taxing on the body and it's joints than offense. Constantly "reacting" to another player when your not sure what he's doing...takes a huge toll on knee's/ankles/etc...why so many players don't do it well, it takes too much effort.
"Rest" isn't always the best option. Even tho playing might not be a great idea, building muscle and flexibility generally is. I've seen some of the Spurs "work out"...it's why I think they should focus a little more on it.![]()
