I recently had Avast 4.8 Home Edition installed on my laptop and since then I can't download torrents. Bitlord just continually says connecting...nothing is downloading.

Any ideas as to what I can do? I've tried disabling Avast and then tried downloading but that doesn't work either...

Maybe try reinstalling either or both, I'd try the Bitorrent client first.

Make sure the port is open on Windows.

Also make sure your AV client is allowing that program to pass through your AV protection.

Usually when you install something after you install something like AVG AVG or the Windows firewall will ask if you want to allow the program to access the internet.

Oh yes, BitLord is listed as an exception on my Windows firewall already.

Even if you disable an AV program, it will retain the internal firewall settings, unless you completely uninstall it.

You need to make sure Avast has a setting that allows bittorrent to pass through.

I would try another torrent program and perhaps a different anti-virus to check for compatibility issues.

If you have an infection you will be all night wasting your time. Just because you have Avast doesn't mean you don't have any Trojans you need to do a boot up scan.

remember Avast doesn't look for spy ware you need to seek that out. All it takes is one spy ware infection and your pc will run like !

Have tried going into control panel and create a new user don't copy files and download bit lord again?
