It's not about spending, it's about spending priorities, and the GOP don't want any money going to the poor, unless it goes through the hands of one of its corporate lobbyist first...

The Bush Tax Cuts Cost Two and a Half Times as Much as the House Democrats’ Health Care Proposal - Citizens for Tax Justice

Newly revised estimates from Citizens for Tax Justice show that the Bush tax cuts cost almost $2.5 trillion over the decade after they were first enacted (2001-2010).1 Preliminary estimates from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office show that the House Democrats’ health care reform legislation
is projected to cost $1 trillion over the decade after it would be enacted (2010-2019).2

...BUT! ...the CBO numbers do not net out the costs currently paid by the government to reimburse hospitals and doctors for uncompensated care (for the uninsured), which when extrapolated through 2010 - 2019 come to $816 billion. Once the uninsured are covered these cost would no longer be incurred. They would be covered by the insurance policies.

    Because they haven't happened yet.

That's ok. The numbers wouldn't fit on that graph anyway.

I'm gonna focus on the future and assume things will get worse rather than commenting on the fact that the last president spent more money than Donald Trump in a store full of gold.

Several economists and political scientists believe the GOP does this so the democrats will not be able to spend on anything. They'd rather help out their corporate friends first and charge it, so we're strapped in their interests.

You forget. Lib s think the government has the right to take anything they want. They also want it and vote accordingly because the want Nanny and Uncle Sam to support them.

They would severely dwarf the others, even if the adjusted the graph to inflation!

" the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated that health-information technology as provided for in the recently enacted stimulus bill would reduce health-care spending by only about 0.3 percent. " (L.A. Hunter,NRO http://article.nationalreview.com/?q...k5ZmI5NGM0YTc=)
"At its inception in 1966, Medicare cost $3 billion a year. At that time, the Ways and Means Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives projected “conservatively” that the program would cost approximately $12 billion a year by 1990. In 1990, the cost of Medicare was actually $107 billion — nine times greater than the Ways and Means estimate." (LAH)

This number is only for the 16 million of the 40 million the Libs are trying to "save" and it sets inflation at a rate probably not maintained.

Remind me. Wasn't it a republican president and government who essentially forced war on their populace through lies and deceit, and racked up trillions of dollars in cost for a war the American people would not have supported in the first place, had they not been blatantly and explicitly lied to? Where are those promised WoMD again?

We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat.
