imaging if dwight get pretty good at those jumpers, gets some post moves and gets rid of playin lazy like he was in the Finals.
Dwight Howard spent the majority of his time this summer working on his jumper, even though much of the criticism he has received has been for his lack of low-post game.
"People say that, but when you get double-teamed every play, it's hard to get post moves," Howard said. "My biggest thing is passing out the double team and allowing my guys to get shots, trusting them. That way I have an easier chance to score."
Howard said he worked on it every day and even circulated a video this summer in which he ran up and down a court drilling 15-footers.
"That's all I did, just get in the gym and work on my shot," Howard said. "Couldn't simulate double teams and all that stuff, just every day working on my shot."

i wonder if this means his FTs will improve.
I'd be more worried if he got a legit post up game.
This could actually be big news. Like the above poster said, better FT% spells trouble for the rest of the league. Watch out![]()
thats it the magic are done. he should have worked on his post game.
lol @ not having a post game because of double teams. That's a first.
You can say that again. Gasol was more than enough to shut him down.
most likely..
Seeing will be believing. He had flawed mechanics. If he fixed those things, it might make a difference, but until then, we'll have to wait to really see if he can effectively and consistently hit a midrange jumper in games. I remember hearing stories from Pistons players that Ben Wallace would routinely make 85-90 free throws out of 100 in practice. Do it in the games and then we'll talk, Dwight.
Those fakes of his could very well be enough to fool the league if he gets the 15 foot range down pat. His explosiveness could get him to the rim, then he could also play the pick and pop jump shot, diversifying the Magic offense. Even the baseline cut would open up for Nelson and Carter.
he should be developing a better post game first...
He should hook up with Kareem now that Kareem's single...They can both get revenge on Kareem's ex =P
Though it was Bynum who made Howard say: "no mas!"
Skyhook and up and under would be far more useful for him
Dwight's release is still slow and awkward. Teams will let Dwight shoot jumpers all day if it keeps him out of the paint.
His running hook is entertaining.
He makes it about half of the time and he misses the rim entirely the other half.
He may become a player like Duncan, good mid range shooter and in the future dangerous post moves
Free throws and jump shots are entirely different. If he worked on his free throws, good for him, but jump shots will do nothing for him.
thats so stupid i won't even tell you why..
anyways, while dwight w/ range is scary it is a part of his game that should have been worked on later. If he thinks an inconsistent jumper(don't care how much he practiced this summer its not going to magically be there for him after one offseason working on it), and the same old fade away shots from the post are going to help then he's just plain not smart.
I got so tired of watching a 7 foot beast falling away from the rim for all of his post shots instead of going right at his opponents, but i guess the magic need ANOTHER jumpshooter.
Yeah, the only thing he lacks at this point is a midrange jumper and dangerous post moves.
With a mid-range shot he'd be more like DRob. Good mid-range shooter who never really developed a really good back to the basket game.
He will still got destroyed by Yao every time they met.
That is if Yao could ever play in an NBA match again.
I'd be more scared of this guy if he developed some legit post moves, but a pussy jump shot, all the more better!!!
