Lyoto is oddly deceptively big for a LHW. He just doesn't look that big but he is a good sized LHW.
Fedor is of course a very undersized HW so it matches. Muscle wise they are the same....Lyoto just has less body fat.
Lyoto Machida makes me proud to be a fan and observer of this sport. He's respectful, appreciative and the ignition for the most talked-about platform shift in fighting sports since Royce Gracie began choking out people with his thighs.
Machida explained that if he defends his belt five times, he wants an opportunity to face Brock Lesnar.
"My focus is on my class, but in the future I would like to do a couple of [heavyweight] fights, like Brock Lesnar," Machida said. "I respect Brock Lesnar as a fighter, but I know I can fight with him. Brock Lesnar is a big challenge for me because he's a big guy, very strong, very fast. For me, I like the challenge."
Painfully ambitious guy. Lesnar-Machida, if it ever happens, could represent the largest-scale style-versus-style match in the sport's history. There's probably no way Lesnar could tag Machida standing, but I would have a hard time imagining Machida could get out from underneath Lesnar. That's not a character flaw: He couldn't out-grapple a Kodiak bear, either, but I don't hold it against him.
Said before but maybe worth repeating: Machida is a new incarnation of Rickson Gracie, a near-mythical fighter whose value comes from a seemingly flawless execution of a house style. Thankfully for fans, Machida is actually interested in fighting.

i don't think machida would stand a chance brock is just way to strong
Now this is something that I appreciate. If he is serious about this, he has shot up on my list of favorite fighters.
I'm re ed....
I thought this was about Fedor since I was reading something on this earlier and I was half awake.
Yea but that would be great matchup. next year when brock won't be the champ they will send machida to the HW to face Fedor
IMO Fedor is the guy who disturbs every fighting style
I could imagine Machida winning this fight with a matador-style game plan.
WOW Machida has some balls on him. Hes got skill no doubt but Brock is wayyyy to big for him.
He wouldnt be able to take Machida down. Machida would pick Brock apart.
Yeah okay Dallas, whatever you say..
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object? I have no idea, but I think Machida/Brock would look nothing like that. If Machida was such a compe or, he'd fight Silva and give everyone an amazing tactical battle.
Brock would sit just sit on him. /end
The impact of the collision forces both into the next dimension. What happens when an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object?
This possibility has already been put to both of them. Anderson Silva refused, not Machida. If Machida was such a compe or, he'd fight Silva and give everyone an amazing tactical battle.
Yup if he could do that to Mir he could easily do that to Machida.
I never bought into the Mir hype. He seemed overrated from the beginning.
Too big for Machida but not too big for Fedor?
Too big for fedor too, he would smash him![]()
How could anyone think Machida could take Brock? That fight is the definition of why there are weight classes. As much as i love GSP, i'm not delusional enough to think he can go all the way up to 205 and dominate.. He's not big enough..
Fedor at 230 beating heavier opponents
Crocop as well is not a big HW
Machida would probably be at 225 fighting Brock- Randy was 220 fighting Brock and many people was giving him chance even though he is 50 years old.
Brock has already shown the ability to toss around 250 pd elite fighters like rag-dolls. Machida is great no doubt, but nothing would stop Brock from grabbing a hold of him, putting him down and pummeling him.. Brock would not stand around and let Machida pick him apart with his stand-up, he'd bum rush him and dump Machida on his head..
I know Machida is a Karate guy but how is his ju-jitsu? I say that becasue Royce Gracie submitted Kimo back in the day.

My bad, I thought it was both that refused.
But yea, Machida being the least hit fighter in the UFC doesn't mean when he's getting hammerfist after hammerfist. It's basically Frank Dux (Lyoto) vs Chong Li (Brock), and if Lyoto hasn't lost by then -- he will that night.![]()
I guess you didn't see how Bloodsport ends.
Oh but I did, and I always thought Chong Li should have won. No way could Dux recover if he got powder in the eyes. In RL, Chong Li wins.![]()
If Lyoto has been training in blind-folded tea serving, Brock is f-ed.
