Rasheed Wallace and Hamilton injured against Cavs

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace injured his left hamstring and Richard Hamilton needed s ches near his left eye against Cleveland on Sunday.

Hamilton returned to the game after a brief absence with a bandage covering five s ches above his left eye. Wallace's return was doubtful.

Wallace grimaced after his layup gave Detroit a 4-2 lead. After he struggled to run at full speed up and down the court, Pistons coach Larry Brown asked him if he wanted to come out of the game. Wallace didn't initially, but later was replaced by Antonio McDyess.

Hamilton was fouled across the face by Zydrunas Ilgauskas late in the third quarter and ended up sprawled out, face down, near the basket. He held a towel over his face as he walked to the locker room. The shooting guard averages a team-high 18.7 points.

Wallace, a standout power forward, had two points and a block in five minutes Sunday. Wallace entered the game averaging 14.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 34.4 minutes.

At just about this time last season, Wallace hurt his left foot. He was slowed by the injury early during the playoffs, but later was healthy enough to help the Pistons win the NBA le.

Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was forced to leave Sunday's win over the Cavs in the first quarter after sustaining a left hamstring injury in the first quarter, the Associated Press reports. He did not return, and his status for the team's remaining two games is very much uncertain.

The Pistons are locked into the two-seed in the Eastern Conference, so they have very little reason to parade a gimpy Rasheed out on the hardwood. Keep him reserved unless you hear a very favorable report.
