You all might remember the story WOAI broke about VIA bus drivers texting while driving, including one driver that caused a major accident while doing so.

I don't have a link yet but apparently they are going to put WIFI on buses, starting with a route that travels 281.

Now I have to worry about drivers surfing the net!

I'd be cool if they were texting at 50 mph and running stop lights.

Pretty stupid idea, IMO. No one is going to ride VIA just cause they have WIFI.

So I actually just rode one of the buses with wifi. No one was using it - I tried it out for a bit and it seemed like OK speeds.

The Bus I was on was the 64 express that goes from downtown to the Kel Lac PR to NWV and I believe Sea World. It doesn't make any other stops other than those locations so its nice and fast. I usually park at Kel Lac then take it from there to SAC.

I guess it makes the most sense to offer it on these lines if they are trying to attract people commuting but I still don't know how much useful surfing you'll do in the 15-20 minutes from the PR to downtown.
