Heard this on the radio yesterday and tought it was good food for thought....
Brandon es trys to maliciously eye gouge a Georgia player, and the NCAA does NOTHING. Urban Meyer gives him a half a game suspension against lowly Vanderbilt.....Anywhere off the football field, that would be ing assault....
Dez Bryant has lunch with Deion Sanders, who is NOT and NFL agent and the NCAA suspends him for the rest of the season because, and the NCAA states.."he violated NCAA bylaw 10.1, which adresses "UNETHICAL CONDUCT"....
So to put this in perspective, es eyegouges another player, and the NCAA does nothing, and Bryant has lunch with Deion Sanders and the NCAA states that Bryant violated unethical conduct. Complete and utter bull ing . I guess they don't consider eye gouging, at least on the field, unethical conduct.
Even Blout from Oregon was suspended for the rest of the year for throwing a punch...by his OWN team. I always respected Urban Meyer, but now, him. He is not teaching these young athletes anything by letting es off the hook. Its because Florida is Florida and Oklahoma St. is Oklahoma St.

Dez deserved 2 game max and es should be done for the rest of the season.
There is definitely an uneven tilt to the NCAA...
No way should Dez Bryant be suspended for the remainder of the year for having contact with Deion Sanders. Yeah, Deion should by now know the rules of the game he has been involved with for over 30 years, but it wasn't like Dez Bryant was in line to throw a game.
While Brandon es gouges the eye of a Georgia player and is left only with a 2-game suspension? Whereas the severity of the crime is undoubtedly one-sided it isn't a surprise. Until the NCAA get overhauled and re-examined, you're going to have thes assinine punishments for varying crimes in which the degree of the incidents do not always match up...and oh yeah, no fu@#ing playoff system either...
Okay, so we have
1. A guy who TRIED to touch another guys face. Possibly to poke his eyes.
2. A guy who DID clearly violate NCAA bylaw 10.1, an agreement every player must sign before playing an NCAA sport.
3. A guy who DID punch another guy in the face knocking him unconscious.
There's a clear difference in the fact that 2 and 3 WERE committed, 1 was attempted. Legally speaking, there is a HUGE difference between murder and attempted murder.
Now for the arguments

Well yes, so is running at someone as fast as you can, hitting them with your shoulder, and then throwing them down to the ground as hard as you can. So is punching a guy a the face with an open fist, also known as a stiff arm. The fact is, whether or not something is illegal off the field is irrelevant, because almost everything done under the controlled settings of a sport is illegal. You can't drive 200 miles down the highway...but you can in a race.

Not under the bylaw which Dez was guilty off. Bylaw 10.1 has to do with unethical conduct relating to cheating and student athlete - agent interactions. Dez broke Bylaw 10.1, which defines unethical conduct in the eyes of the NCAA, and es didn't. Neither did Blout for that matter, his team and school had to punish him because the NCAA did not. The bylaw isn't concerned with specifics, it says "don't cheat on tests, don't meet with agents, don't drink alcohol, and don't accept special treatment from professors". Whether or not you agree with the bylaw itself is a different issue. You can't get mad at urban and es, because you don't agree with the bylaw...

He is infact teaching them. He may not be teaching them how to be saints, but he is teaching them to not punish themselves if they technically didn't break the rules. Some can argue this is a lesson that is just as important as how to be a saint.

For the record I think es is a and i hope his whole family gets cataracts.
Dez didn't even get in trouble for having dinner with Sanders; he got in trouble for lying about it.
this..and it was bull .
I wanted es on the Raiders. After that chode move, I'd prefer McClain from Bama.
As far as Dez is concerned, I am still convinced that there was an agent at that dinner at deion's house, and that's why he lied about it.
