Some mom n pop stores are listing on Craigslist that they are breaking street date and selling Modern Warfare 2 RIGHT NOW.... i own a xbox 360.
i am scared to buy it though. people are getting hit with a ban wave lately, and people get in trouble for playing games early.
If I buy it legitimately from a retail store, and play it early, would i get banned?
if I did get banned, would I have a case to argue?

You could get banned. Truth is, Microsoft doesn't know who's is modded and who got it early. If you play a lot of games early, you are more than likely to get banned. I have a lot of people on my friends list playing it. Go for it

false. Hordes of people who legimately played forza 3 and mw2 early have been banned, you can get unbanned with a receipt backing up your story
Microsoft wants those receipts so they can sue the crap out of those stores

If you have a legit copy and your xbox is not modded, you are completely fine.

A launch team staff member himself confirmed this.
Anyone who is banned was playing on a modded console. It doesn't matter if they had a legitimate copy of the game.
Legit game + modded console = ban
pirate game + modded console = ban
so now I am excited. I am going to go pickup my copy for 70 bucks today at 5pm!!!!
Lol go ahead drink the cool aid ignoramus. I belong to forums with dozens of confirmed cases of bans playing legitimate games early. Some of them were unbanned when they showed receipts for the games they bought. And yes some people were playing legit games on legit consoles(unmodded)

I'd say it's possible to get banned for playing early but with an outbreak of players getting early access it'll become less frequent.

this is just one of dozens of reports ive read.
ive played tons of games early with out a ban over the last 8 months, its the bigger named les that they do these huge waves on because they can catch a much bigger part of the modding population,
their way is banning most to all early players, shoot first and ask questions later, if you have a legit argument you will come forward with a receipt or proof that you should be in posession of a review copy of the game. If you can do this you can get unbanned.

This was Turn 10's fault, not Microsoft's XBOX live.

Big whoop I've been playing it for over a week.
And Im buying it when it comes out. I do buy the games I normally would have bought after burning them and playing them early. And the ones that surprised me that I didnt think I'd buy. But if it entices me to want to play it for more than one or two sessions I pay for it. That is the beauty of modding your console, you can save yourself money on those games that you had high hopes for that come out and suck.
There is no recourse unlike other hard goods you aren't happy with when you buy them.

I confirmed a second time from XBOX staff that
legit copy + legit console + play early = no problem
I am on my 2nd day, had a blast playing online yesterday. the new les and emblems are neat
yup lots of people playing mw2 no one getting banned
