Just always agree with me... lest this happen to you.
Just kidding. Welcome to the forums.
Just discovered this site about 2 weeks ago. Spent about a week reading and getting to know how things work around here before starting to get involved myself.
It seems you guys are pretty harsh to new posters so hopefully you'll take it easy on me until I get some posts built up.
On to the Spurs, here are some general thoughts of mine on some of the big topics that I have noticed over the first two weeks of the season.
1. Patience young grasshopper - I see a lot of people are very worried about Bonner and Finley. I agree they need to sit down more then they have been. But, if you've been paying attention, BOTH have played less and less as the season has gone on. GOOD SIGN!!
2. We haven't seen our true rotation for the playoff push yet. We haven't even come close to duplicating one rotation twice. I liked how we did with the lineup of Hill, Mason, Jefferson, Blair, and Duncan at times during this last game vs. Portland. How do we get that on the court more often? Do we start Manu and bring Jefferson off the bench? Just a thought.
3. While I agree that the small lineup sucks. The fact of the matter is that it's SUPPOSED to help with rebounding IMO, believe it or not. Most of our problems with rebounding aren't getting out jumped or out muscled for the ball most of the time. It's getting to the ball QUICK enough. When there are long rebounds our guys just aren't able to get there often enough. That could have something to do with continuity. Not being used to each other could be messing with our boxout responsibilites.
4. People are being a little to harse on Manu and Duncan IMO. I see people saying that both are looking old and slow and what not. I think it's more of a matter of neither having played basketball as much in the summer as usual. It will take about a month or two for both of them to get back their flow and basketball savy that they are know for. Neither have ever been known as physical specimens. They've gotten by, by being more sound in their basketball skills then the other guy. You got to let them be for 20 games or so.
5. Just so you don't think I'm some apoligistic homer, I've been disappointed in the play of Parker. I liked how he played against the Kings. But otherwise, I wonder where his ability to get in the paint has gone. Or more accurately, where his aggresiveness to get in the paint has gone. I think, in general, our aggressiveness on the perimeter is lacking. With new weapons everyone seems to be hesitant as to whether they should try to take it or pass it off and defer to someone else.
Overall, I've seen good things and bad things from this team. 5 games isn't enough for me to make ANY true judgements overall. Ask me again after game 20.

Just kidding. Welcome to the forums.
New posters get bashed on if they make hasty and irrational posts or threads...this was not one of those posts or threads...

thats exaactly when ill make my judgement 15-20games, from what i saw last night im happy i did see some flashes of defense, and good offense by rj, and we might be related because i was posting the same thing last night!! i said that parker doesnt look aggresve at all, ever since the fall i noticed he's held back, right before that fall he was the tp i know, right after he seemed a lil intimidated, and even in the kings game he wasnt being himself. thats the one guy im worried about because he looks a bit uninterested for some reason
I think pop has told tp to get others more involved early to see what the team has
tp is trying to figure out his place now in the o
I just hope that when Parker comes back from his injury he's back to his old self. He is the guy that gets the offense started in the 1st quarter. I think the team always looks to him to get the team off to a good start in the 1st until the rest of the team gets in a groove. We've been falling behind early because he isn't trying to do very much in the 1st quarter.
man exactly people are worried about the new guys and i do have to say im pissed about the amount of min. finley is getting as well as how much confidence he has with that guy. but the way parker is not attacking has everything to do with people not getting easy looks and timmy getting easy rebounds
my bro was making a good point to me last night saying, he thinks pop is telling the guys to take it easy out there, and really not wanting them to push it. and at first it sounds ridiculous, usually my brother has a better idea of whats goin on 4 some reason, i can picture pop saying that to our team esp. duncan. tony. manu, dice, and that would explain alot of things
and keep up the good work on your avatars/sigs that film is just not long enough /j. alba
Welcome to the board; don't say you haven't been warned..
Not bad first post. Welcome. I think the problem is. You see he reads SpursTalk often, he knows our disgust for Bonner and Finley, so he s with us constantly. He gets off on reading our pain and anxiety, it turns him on. If he can do it for an entire year (2008-2009), he can do it again this year, just to make us suffer. So it get used to it fellow "Spur" brother.

Pop is like a lost soul refusing to go to the light, a light that everybody can see and knows is haven and yet he's scared, he wants to stay in both words, the old way and the new way.
The old way because he keeps playing Bonner and Finley and he alleges they know the "system". The new way, new players that he refuses to play because they don't know the "system" and when is he going to play them so they can learn it? when we are so low in the standings and have to work harder to catch up to get a good playoff spot.
I agree with ducks that TP might be trying to get others involved. But I have seen some of his shots which he usually makes in the paint have fallen short lately. It looks like he is out of shape or being weak in the last few games.
last night's game was very pleasing to me. saw 2 great things, Mcdyess and RJ having great games.
we could have easily won if we did not have that horrendous 1st quarter
if you ommit that 1st quarter, we beat the blazers w/out Parker
that's the thing we are getting our asses kicked in the 1st quarter and we all know why
Could this be your last topic too, please?
Just kidding...
