Who said that?
Please, everybody, have some respect for our Spurs player and spell his name correctly.
A little background. His name is Arabic and is spelled many different ways: Nassir, Nasr, Nazir, Nasir. It means "protector" or "warrior."
Most languages sound very different from English, as you know. That's why so many foreign-born players use nicknames (Peja for Pedrag), in order to make it easier on us Americans. They get used to this - Nowitzki gets used to the 'w' sound in English instead of the 'v' sound in German. And this is why Udrih goes by a lighter 'ih' sound than I think is typical in Slovenian (it should be 'ich' or 'ixh', more back of the throat or gutteral).
That's the same reason why Nazr has people pronounce his name 'nah-zee.' Because, although there's really a slight dip of an 'r' sound at the end, it's too much of a bother to get everybody to pronounce it. 'Nah-zee' is good enough.
But it's certainly not good enough to type 'Nazi.'
It's really offensive to see such a proud name - , just the name of a Spurs player - continually being written as "Nazi." That's just crap. It's the same as somebody pronouncing the extra 'i' in Ginobili, but a sight worse, due to the history of that word. Nazis would have... I don't even want to surmise what Nazis would have thought of Nazr, and every time I see somebody type it, I wonder what he or his family would think to see it. I know what I think.
Please stop. Please. It takes absolutely no effort to type "Nazr."
I bet we'd find a lot of people with time on their hands if someone kept misspelling Saint Manu's name.
Your effort is noted, but it won't matter.
I've mentioned the "Nazi/Nazr" misspelling and I've mentioned "ih" versus "ich" for Udrih. All you will get are a bunch of self-absorbed semi-cephalics telling you you don't know what you're talking about.
Listen I am falling for this guy as a player and I don't care what his name is spelled like (although agree better to do so). I doubt he cares either as long as he has a chance to win a le and he may be a major player in that effort seemingly down the road.
As a supporter of giving Nazr a chance since the beginning I am proud of him and he does appear to being a "Warrior". By the way it was him as much as anyone who kicked some Warrior *&^ recently in that overtime game.
Mr. Body is on point with this one. Few of us would like to have our names misspelled. Fewer still would like to have our names misspelled in a manner that connects us (even tangentially) with one of the most appalling political groups in modern history.
It's not hard. If you can use the "i" to try to type it phonetically, you can mix in the "r" and type it correctly.
Mr. Body is right. I can't stand when I see "Sean Elliot". So at least spell Nazr's name right.
I always spell Nazi's name right, what is with you????
Great sentiment...lost cause. Many have a difficult enough time spelling their own name.

I hate when people misspell my handle.

Seriously-
Before I got married, my maiden name was butchered all the time. It was misspelled and mispronounced until unrecognizable.
I think Nazr is probably used to having his name abused, but writing 'nazi' is over the line and would bother anyone.
Mr.Body...
Could you please change your username?
I know someone that died and the fact your name references a corpse causes me unbearable, crippling and life altering mental anguish on a message board I choose to come to.
Actually, in the game it's "Mr. Boddy." Two 'd's. The nickname is in reference to my physique.Mr.Body...

how about naz?
Don't the Spurs call him Mo?
Is this person currently on the Spurs roster?
damm it I spell overthing right!
Word up, DevilLover.
Yeah, like you weren't asking for trouble.
Sidenote: bonesinaz is a chick? I don't know why I assumed that nick belonged to a guy.
. . . That's a lie, yes I do.
That doesn't make it hurt any less....just like when people say NAZI they don't mean the same group responsible for the holocaust...
I, like you, hold other people are responsible for the mental triggers in my brain no matter how harmless the intent..so please change it.
And BTW, thanks for making my pain even greater by actually using that name...maybe I'll start posting a picture of hitler every time I mention Nazr to show you how that felt![]()
Come on Sequ, at least call him the Dunk Nazi.
"No Dunk for you".
