"Hasta hace un tiempo no tenía noción, pero me la hicieron agarrar a la fuerza porque me lo preguntan muy seguido y lo dicen en todos los lados, así que uno termina creyéndoselo. Yo me siento infinitamente halagado. Por mi edad yo viví el fenómeno Maradona y sé lo que la gente siente por él. Si yo llego a ser sólo una parte de eso, no me lo puedo creer. Me viene la piel de gallina, en serio", señaló el bahiense.

"Lo que sí sé es que dentro de cada actuación mía o cada logro hay un montón de gente que se alegra y me encanta. Eso llena mucho a cualquier deportista. Todo esto es muy fuerte. Adoro la idea de que un niño de mi país me vea y se diga a sí mismo que si yo lo he podido lograr él también puede hacerlo", continuó el jugador de los Spurs.

Ginobili ha conseguido hacerse un hueco entre los jugadores ´All Star´, los seleccionados para el tradicional Partido de las Estrellas del campeonato estadounidense, algo que considera "un gran triunfo a nivel personal porque es con lo que uno sueña de pequeño".

"Cuando estuve en la reunión del equipo, con todos esos jugadores a mi alrededor, no podía dejar de mirarlos. Fue una sensación hermosa. Y más porque yo no soy alguien que meta veinte puntos por partido, sino que puedo anotar seis tantos pero intento ayudar en todas las facetas que puedo. Creo que tuvo mucho que ver el formar parte de un equipo tan bueno, el mejor equipo del momento", afirmó el ex jugador del Kinder Bologna italiano.

Ginobili también habló sobre sus retos de futuro en la misma entrevista y lo tiene claro: "Quiero mantenerme a este nivel. Llegar es muchas veces muy difícil, pero mantenerse así creo que lo es más. Mi objetivo real no cambia y es ganar el anillo de campeón, ser un campeón y disfrutar con la victoria. Eso es lo que más me llena".

"Nosotros -los Spurs- sabemos que tenemos equipo como para ser campeones. pero tampoco estamos todo el día leyendo la prensa para ver quien nos da como primeros entre los candidatos o quien nos coloca más abajo. Sabemos que tenemos esa gran posibilidad, pero depende mucho de nosotros y para ello trabajamos duro. Queremos mejorar día a día", señaló el alero en relación a las opciones de revalidar título que tiene San Antonio.

Ginóbili sabe que "los Suns están pasando por un gran momento y será uno de los rivales a batir, pero Sacramento y Dallas también estarán ahí. Estos ´play-offs´ van a ser muy duros".

Su progresión fue otro de los asuntos que Ginobili analizó y, aparte de sentirse en la madurez como jugador, aún cree que puede evolucionar más.

"Yo no creo que haya mejorado mucho como jugador, sino que es más bien fruto del proceso de acoplamiento a la Liga, sin lugar a dudas. No me siento tan diferente al jugador que era hace dos años cuando llegué a la NBA, pero sí conozco mucho más el ambiente y lo que quieren de mí mi entrenador y mis compañeros. Popovich me da ahora más responsabilidades, me deja crear mucho más y los árbitros me respetan en mayor medida", dijo el argentino.

"También uno va madurando. Ya tengo veintisiete años y estoy en la bre de mi carrera, así que algo también he mejorado. Creo que aún puedo mejorar más y lo quiero hacer.
