When I first came in here five years ago, this forum used to be a great place for reading articles about my beloved Spurs and a place with die hard Spurs fan who had great basketball knowledge.
For about 6months now, this board has really fallen from grace.
Most of the thread are ridiculous if not de able.
Most of the posters brings absolutely nothing to the board and I honestly pity their idiocy.
You (and you know who you are) have no respect for our players nor the people who works for the spurs and know only how to call them names after every miss shot or mistake.
Even when our player injure themselves you treat them like .
This board is far away from what it used to be and that's real sad, I only read thread started by 228 these days because I know it's articles she gathers.
I'm outta here.
Farewell to the Spurs fans that know how to behave themselves.
Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.
And please stay out when we start winning again...
Sorry ElNono he has a point. As of today there are more interesting stuff in NBA forum, other teams fans show more respect and knowledge about the spurs than in its own forum. With the losses stupid threads and posts are increasing a lot.
well i'll start posting more, this should improve the spurs section.
i'll start right now a tony vs manu thread.![]()
Don't let the door hitcha on the vagina
This place always has gone through these cycles when we're not winning.
You do need a thicker skin if you can't handle it. Or do what he/she does, leave.
The OP has some valid points. It seems more chaotic now. The veterans no longer contribute. The level of discussion is much lower.
Start a "Bonner sucks ass" thread. We need one of those so to act ignorant even though Bonner carried us with his threes at the start of the game.
I'm going to have to agree with the OP here. I used to enjoy coming here to read articles and quality original posts in this forum, and more and more often i'm disappointed by a bunch of name calling 'fans' who overreact in every situation be it good or bad. I find more levelheaded fans at ISH and that says it all. There are still a good number of knowledgeable fans here but also an overwhelming flood of lunatics.
It has nothing to do with being a Spurs fan, always been and always will be. Just wasting my time reading the threads for about 6months now and wanted to express my displeasure before stopping coming to what was once for a long time my favorite website. As the spur on my avatar says, I have been here long enough to be able to express my point of view. It's not about winning or losing, it's about posters behavior. There's a difference between a well thought criticism and some piss poor disrespect bandwagon whining.
After every loss, people act like it's December 20, 2012 around here.
Use the ignore list. It's a little more work, but you can identify who the clowns are and skip over their posts.
I have the same feeling though I've been here only for 1.5 years... but this seems unavoidable for discussion forums, or popular discussion forums.
I agree somewhat with the OP. I have been here, under a couple of user names, since 2003 offseason. I don't really contribute much intelligent basketball knowledge, but I don't trash up the forum either...
However, you can't remove ALL the meltdown stuff, you do need a mix of the two...
Like the OP, I also wish the more knowledgeable long-time members contributed more.
I like reading takes by timvp, kori, from way downtown, solid D, and quite a few others.
It's true. The Vets don't post anymore.... They brought good takes.
Exactly.
My BB knowledge is quite limited, I have been raised in France and BB is like soccer for US citizens but I really enjoy following the spurs team and the rest of the NBA. I don't want to become an expert or something but I try to contribute and I look for information and analysis regarding BB. Right now the forum is so polluted that it's difficult to see the pertinent takes.
I'm not going to give up, the forum will raise at the same speed than the spurs like usual. It's just annoying.
I have been here maybe for about a year but even in this year i see the difference.
Too many "trade ______" threads after every game. I think right now we are on "trade Parker" soon it will be "trade Mason" or "trade Manu" b/c of his injuries.
But whatever, i'm still on this site either way and i don't plan on leaving so i guess it doesn't matter lol.
Eh. This is always the worst time of year on the forum. The excitement of the new season has worn off and the Spurs are off to their customary slow start so Spurs fans are in panic mode. New Age Spurs Fans don't recognize the pattern so they meltdown. Spurs fans who have been around the block know that it is part of the process so they just ignore the meltdowns.
Once the team hits its stride and we are enough games into the season to start making some conclusions on where the Spurs stand, the conversations get more interesting.
And really, the meltdowns this year aren't any worse than meltdowns of previous years. I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen more cliff jumpers.
Last night, I thought about cleaning it up, but it was too overwhelming -- it was like the Spurs lost the .4 game or something.
Anyway, the best way to fix things is two-fold.
1. When someone makes a stupid thread -- don't post in it. The reason those threads stay on the front page is because you guys post in them over and over and over telling the OP that they are dumb. If you don't post in stupid threads, they'll be off the front page in a matter of hours.
2. Contribute to good threads or start your own. Instead of whining about the quality of the forum going down, contribute to it going back up.
Pretty basic internet strategy.
Anyway, I blame the increased stupidity on a variety of things...
1. People love Manu and hate that he's been injured for SOOOOOOOOOO long now. So they lash out into freaks.
2. People had extremely high hopes about this season, so are losing it at 4-5.
3. People are seeing the Duncan era is coming to an end soon. And obviously, that causes anxiety.
4. There are a lot of people pretending to be Spurs fans here that aren't. I could name the posters, but I won't. Instead, I'll eliminate them.
The only one of these that I can do anything about is 4.
Why can't I just get my way and only my way?
Seriously, this is a discussions board where people are allowed to have an opinion on. Just because we don't agree with what some things our team might be doing does not make anyone less a fan then the other.
I'm getting more tiered of the "I'm a better fan then you are" crap then anything else.
Here is the thing, if you don't like a thread don't read or post in it. It's a simple skill called self will that alot have lost.
Im on here only for a couple of months, since March or something, but I notice after the summer the forum definitely worsened. So much bull threads opened, all the drama when Spurs lose a game. The threads about firing and trading opened every single day, even if the season just started. That's too bad, but im still enjoying the forum.
