can't argue with the standings...but mavericks at 3? hmm.
NBA power rankings: Nov. 22, 2009
TOP 10
(Last rank in parentheses)
1. Hawks (2): Josh Smith may have Most Improved Player locked up already.
2. Lakers (1): Watch out, they’re almost full strength; Gasol back and Bynum’s ankle better.
3. Mavericks (9): If MVP vote were taken now, Dirk would be prime candidate; he’s even playing “D.”
4. Magic (8): Nelson’s injury is worrisome; signing J. Will out of retirement was stroke of genius.
5. Celtics (4): Team that believed it could win 73 games already has three losses at home.
6. Suns (5): Was loss in New Orleans a TV jinx? They’ve lost 16 straight when on TNT’s air.
7. Nuggets (3): Billups goes oh-for-3-point land in four of last five games, including loss to Clips.
8. Cavaliers (6): They’re 3-1 without Shaq, and counting; Brown won’t rush big man back into lineup.
9. Trail Blazers (12): Most valuable Blazer thus far? With three forwards out, it might be 15-year vet Juwan Howard.
10. Bucks (14): Most surprising team of first month, and all without top scorer Michael Redd.

Swap Mavs and Suns and it's about right. Sure Suns lost to the Hornets but they also beat the "league's best defense" Celts at home.
The Hornets just took out "the best teams in the league."
Suck it, everybody.
