Who are #1 and #2 on "Efficiency per Game"????
Here are the regular season efficiency rankings for all NBA players who have played this season.
Efficiency is calculated by:
(PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK) - ((FGA - FGM) + (FTA - FTM) + TO)
Basically, it adds up the good things and subtracts most of the bad things. Personal fouls, technical fouls, and ejections are not included. It measures offense better than defense.
In the tables, the team is the player's current team. Rankings are indicated by the numbers in parentheses. The players are ordered by total efficiency, but you can see the rankings for efficiency/game and efficiency/minute.
The first table just shows the Spurs. The next table has all players.

Efficiency isn't a truthful stat...I really try to avoid it
Steals and Blocks are worth MUCH MORE than pts or rbds
Rebounds are worth less than assists
Field Goals Missed ARE NOT as bad as Free Throws Missed
So making all of them equal (especially points) is really dumb. My two cents - if I were to grade it, I would make it
PTS - 1 pt each
RBDS - 1.5 pts each
ASSTS - 2 pts each
STLS & BLOCKS - 2.5 pts each
FG MISSED: -0.5 each
FT MISSED: -1 each
That, IMO, would be much fairer

Also, they should make a "per 48 minutes" stat for what I suggested..
This efficiency stat, for the most part, favours big men because of the rebounds.
Artest is ahead because it's an AVERAGE score
