OK, lets have some fun, who should be HYBRID HALL-OF-FAMERS?

    What is a HYBRID HALL-OF-FAMER?

A hybrid HoFer is someone who does not make the Hall as a player, coach, or contributor, but makes the Hall but a combination of these.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Inductees
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/hof.html

    Example:

    Rudy T.

    Player

    1st-team all-Big Ten in 1969 & 1970
    2nd team-all Big Ten in 1968
all-American in college (2nd team) at Michigan (1970)
averaged 25 points and 14 boards in college
averaged 30 points and 16 boards as senior
averaged 26 and 14 as junior
all-time leader at Michigan in rebounds

2nd pick of NBA draft (1970)

    5-time NBA all-star ('74-'77, '79)
    played 11 NBA seasons
    4 seasons averaged over 20 points per game ('74, '75, '77, '78)
    2 seasons averaged over 10 boards per game ('72 & '73)

career cut short by Kermit Washington punch, missed '78 all-star game, made '79 all-star team, but only played 2 more seasons

    Coach

    2 rings
11 seasons with winning record, 9 of them full seasons

In early 1993 (2nd half of 92-93 season), he took over the Rockets and turned Hakeem Olajuwon into a team player and an eventual champion

ran the innovative inside-out, Hakeem/3-point shooting offense.

    2000 Olympic Gold Medal coach

    Contributor

If I am not mistaken, Rudy T still gets a lot of face-time on TV, commenting on the NBA.

    OK, who else in is?

    Byron Scott?

    Avery Johnson?

    Don Chaney?

    Mo Cheeks?

    Chris Ford?

    Scott Skiles?

    Terry Porter?

    Doc Rivers?

    Paul Silas?

    Tim Legler?

    Kenny Smith?

    Rick Carlisle?

    Greg Anthony?

    Kevin Johnson?

    Mark Jackson?

    Hubie Brown?

    Doug Collins?

    Tom Tolbert?

    anyone else?

Rudy T is not in the Hall-of-Fame, but should. He comes up just short as a player and as a coach. But his combined achievemnets should out him in.

    Who else?

    Get it?

I had no problem getting it.

Doc Rivers, Scott Skiles, and Kevin Johnson are the only ones from that list that I say a definate yes to. Maybe Terry Porter, and Byron Scott too.

Byron Scott did nothing other than gravy train on 3-4 better players each time for some les, and constantly alienate players on two teams that he coached. His playing career was ordinary, his coaching career flawed and disjointed.
