Got back from the eye doctor. I've been pretty blind for the better part of a year. The last time I got my eyes checked, they lowered my prescription and I couldn't really see. They said it was because my eyes just needed to adjust. Never happened.

So last week I change doctors and I go there and he gives me an even lower prescription. So for the last week my blind azz was walking around with -4 contacts. I go back today and I'm like WTF I can't see, something is wrong. So he gives me another test and figures out I should really be a -6. He was saying blah blah your eyes are getting worse and worse you have major stigmatisms blah blah blah. I was like yeah whatever at least I can see now.

So the moral of this story is don't trust doctors and timvp needs -6 contacts but at least he can see now. I wonder if anyone in here is more blind than me.

The eye doctor was stupid. When they gave you those -4's I was like uh.. he was -5.25 two years ago. I doubt he improved that much.

I found out when I went in for my last exam that my right eye is 20/400 aka legally blind.

It's a good think that don't make coke bottle contact lenses.

wow! My right is -2.50. You're worse than I am!

My mom is legally blind in both eyes. I think she's like 20/600 or something like that. She has to wear contacts and glasses to get to 20/20.

With these type of genes, I could never donate sperm.

Damn. Are you sure? I was going to sell your donations to sperm banks so I could have extra money to spend at Neiman-Marcus.

Bob was wondering if there was a way he could write my 'blindness' off on our tax return.

Are you able to wear diposable lenses?

My doctor said I was a good candidate for lasik, but said that because I have big pupils I would probably see a lot of halos, etc. Plus, people who have it done will eventually need reading glasses. I think having to wear reading glasses would bug me more.

I think I may be worse than 20/400 or right around there. 20/400, IIRC, is just being able to read the big E. What prescription do you have for contacts?

I wear the lenses that you are supposed to throw away every month. I can usually make those last a lot longer, though.

Exam was $70 I think. I haven't orded the contacts yet -- I'll probably buy them on the internet.

LJ can't have it for another couple years because his prescription keeps changing. They said to wait until at least after he is 25.

I'm -1.75 in my left and -2.50 in my right. My right eye constantly changes. Last year, I was wearing -2.00

I was wearing Acuvue. When I first tried Acuvue 2, I would see halos around tail lights and it it would drive me insane. I wear those now without any problem. I don't think my orginal doctor (I went to someone new) fit my lenses correctly.

Oh, and I make them last way longer than 2 weeks. I wear them until they're really blurry!

My oldest couldn't read the big E either. I never knew until they tested him in kindergarten. I felt so bad.

Was this your family doctor? They've had better lasers and been able to cut a bigger flap, which prevents the halos, for at least 2.5 or 3 years now. I have big pupils and had NO problems with my LASIK
Plus, people who have it done will eventually need reading glasses. I think having to wear reading glasses would bug me more.
You'd need them even if you had been born to perfect 20/20 vision. I had LASIK done when I was 41, and still don't need the reading specs yet. They're now working on a procedure to replace your lense with a viscous fluid that will not harden so that you never need reading glasses.

no, it was my eye doctor.

I really don't mind wearing contacts. I sleep in my all the time (i know, i know, no lectures) that I may as well have 20/20.

SW, why can't you wear them?

They barely produce enough tears to blink it seems like. I tried them a couple of different times but I lived with the bottle of drops to my eyes....I'd have every last bit of makeup rubbed off within 20 minutes.

I just went this Tuesday and found out that I need.......bi-focals.

But I got the progressive lens so I won't look too old.
I asked about contacts so that I can enjoy swimming and the water parks without having to buy prescription goggles and she told me I could just get some for seeing at a distance since I would only be wearing there for a few hours at a time.

I wore contacts for years but just found glasses to be less of a hassle.

I used the disposale contacts though and I liked them.

I can't believe anyone hasn't mentioned to timvp that if he kept "donating" sperm, he'd go blind.

    Just kiddin' ya, LJ.
