Be safe.
Well, as much as I enjoy posting on this forum this may be my last post for a little while. As some of you know I am in the federal service and will be taking a phenomenal year-long all expenses paid vacation to the beautiful mountains of Afghanistan!
Unlike Iraq, Afghanistan is ridiculously austere and not built-up to nearly the same extent (they have Burger King and Cinnabun in Iraq - wtf?!). One of the unfortunate side-effects of this remoteness is some pretty ty internet connections (if at all). And it's looking more and more like thats the kind of situation to which I'm headed.
So for now I'm off on a little trip to Rome with my wife for the week and then will probably deploy shortly thereafter. Hopefully when I get downrange the internet is more accessible than we're hearing. But for now I'll treat this as my last post for at least several months. We'll see how everything plays out.

I'm from the Middle East myself, but from Lebanon, so it's one of the more "advanced" countries there..I can tell you that you are correct in your thoughts on Afghanistan, it is NOWHERE near Iraq in those regards, and they're still very well behind in modern advancements..not to bring you down or anything..
