blair was the ONLY bright spot in tonights game... ONLY one
Tonights game against the Celtics was an extremely nail biting ordeal. We looked shaken up, got rattled and then the Celtics rolled. We seemed unprepared for the most part IMO. With the Celt D, the Ref's calls(or lack thereof), poor free throw shooting, & terribly sloppy play, we still kept it semi close. It was quite surprising in many ways. Another big surprise, regarding Pop's decision to play Mason and an off Rjeff over Ginobili(or , even Fin) was dissapointing. I hope that was meant as a confidence inspiring move, because I didnt see the matchup significance. Although I believe in Rjeff, I am quite tired of seeing him cough up the ball with the regularity that he does. Also, the fact Duncan wasnt in earlier in the 4th was very much confusing; although I do understand his rest and the timeout situation in a way. All in all, it is a loss...one of which I am terribly dissapointed in. Hats off to the asshole Celtics for our Spurs loss, for they played a tough, hard nosed basketball game. Its not the end of the Spurs season I know, but I was hoping for a better show. We will come together more as the season progresses, of that Im sure. Its just waiting for it, and I am terribly impatient...but it will happen. The silly mistakes at the end of the day, was what cost us this game.
This is my first thread fellas...So despite me being an asshole to any number of you...be gentle. Much love for my fellow Spurs Fans.

Duncan played great in the mins he had, looked VERY GOOD.....
Of course. Timmy always brings it. no question. what he does for us every game should just go unsaid.
I'm really not that upset about tonight's loss. If not for the turnovers and missed FTs, this game would have been either an OT nail biter or, more likely, a 5 pt Spurs win. Turnovers and terrible FT shooting (we are usually mediocre) are not big problems for us, so I'm not that worried.
Also, we didn't hit any open shots in the first half. I think these struggles were pretty aberrant for us. In other words, if we have a normal game, as in average TOs, average FT%, we win this game.
The struggles with integrating Jefferson and McDyess are as understandable as they are inevitable. Its going to take some time. As long as we keep our heads above water (and stay healthy of course) before February or so, we'll be fine.

Yes you are right...that is something I forgot to mention. Despite his folly of giving the Celtics dos points, he looked pretty good. He surprised me with some of his moves. EDIT-Or shall I say he continues to surprise me.

that will another loss story too!trust me!
IDK that Duncan played great, but he certainly played well. I wish he didnt have to shoulder the load...I mean isnt that what the offseason makeover was for? But I know, I know...it takes time to gel.

Agreed, he was the only that could score in the first half.
He only had 16 tonight. I could be wrong, but 10 of those came in the third I believe. So if I am correct he was not as impacting as you thought. He was still Timmy though. As I stated before, he played well enough I suppose, but not great. Even he wasnt very consistent against the Celtic D, except for that stretch. Overall numbers do not necessarily impact every quarter. Then again, he does things that stat sheets do not show.
We went to Duncan way too much IMO..
Perkins is the best interior 1 on 1 defender in the NBA..KG is an elite defender, Rasheed defends Duncan better than anybody..they were daring our other big man to beat them(McDyess, Bonner)..
All this while RJ was being covered by Ray Allen for a good amount of time, and he didn't get 1 play..
It did suck RJ couldnt get anything to come his way.
Shot selection sucked as well as ball control.
But it coulod have been worse I suppose. I hope the team can take something positive away from this.
Say what?

do unto others.....
And don't forget to mention Rondo. This 23 year-old kid is already an ALL-NBA level defender. Active hands, playing passing lanes, good footwork. He is on the perimeter.
Well, the Spurs were playing sloppy with the ball. If they had cleaned it up even just a little bit, this game is won by a landslide.
Typical spurs loss. Fall down early, stage mini runs to keep the game close, lose it in the 4th quarter.
Why dont we just give Boston credit. They came and beat us on our home floor. We are yet to win A significant road game and have lost mostly all our nationally televised games. We are just not getting it done. Sad but true. We still have holes that I myself hate admitting.
