The reality is we lost to a GREAT team last night, but we held that team to only 90 points and with all the carless turnovers and miscommunications, the missed freethrows, the bad breaks after a great defensive sequence to give up a prayer shot clock buzzer beater, the Spurs were still right there with a shot to win at the end.
If you think every team is going to make theses tough shots at the end of the shot clock..... If you think this team wont realize where their teammates are going to be on every play.... If you think a team that shoots 75% from the line as a whole are going to miss as many as they did last night every game here on out.... If you think the only way to win a championship is to go undefeated the rest of the season..... youre a joke.

The spurs showed alot of character in that game to come back and almost gut it out over the celtics. You can tell they are going through alot of growing pains with all the new players, goofy scheduling that has them going a half a week without playing, and constant nagging injuries.
I look forward to better results soon.
Just because we get pissed at our team doesn't mean we don't have faith in them. No moral victories. Boston also played pure horrible down the stretch missing layups etc. thus letting us back in. If they convert half we easily lose by 15. But ill hold judgement till we play LA. Want to be the best. Got to beat the best. Something we have yet to do. No more excuses. They are sucking. Your point is valid and my OP is obviously not directed to you or fans like you. Being pissed about losing a big game, nothing wrong with that. Im calling out the fools who claim, because of a performance like this at this point of the season, the Spurs may as well forefeit until next year. They expect 70+ wins every year and its not realistic.
The spurs will not get past a healthy Laker team this year. They still lack enough in the frontcourt to match up with the Lakers.
They can match up
In order to do it, Blair and Bonner need to bring that kind of intensity every night. Duncan and Dice can match up with Gasol and Bynum, its Odom that might give the 2nd unit problems, especially cuz the refs kiss his ass inside and out once the playoffs roll around.
SPurs frontcourt did fine vs. Celtics front court. So I don't see a big problem vs. Lakers.
Duncan and Dice cannot matchup with Bynum and Gasol and if the spurs are relying on playing Bonner again big minutes against the lakers they are finished.
And if the Spurs make their FTs and hit a few more 3's, they easily win. How can you bandwagoners can apply this logic when it comes to the other team but not the one you support?

Bonner's a choker of the highest magnitude. Spurs have no shot at getting out of the first round if we're relying on him to play an integral role in our frontcourt.
From what I saw in last night's game, Bonner no longer has that scared "I'm going to up" look. Even after getting his obligatory phantom foul call (while boxing out Wallace for a rebound) Bonner was relentless going after rebounds and loose balls. It was great to watch, even the refs seemed to swallow their whistles after awhile.
It was funny too, every time Bonner would go up and outrebound one of Perkins, Garnett, or Rasheed, they would just glare at the nearest ref as if to say "You're going to let that white bread motherf---- outrebound me and make me look foolish and not call a foul!!?"

Here's a fact right now - the Spur's best isn't as good as the Celtic's best. If these two met in the finals as they currently are right now the Spurs would have to play near their best and hope the Celtics play under their best ball to have a chance of winning the series.

The Spurs are still relying on too much 3 point shooting. Thats why I feel they are one starter quality big away from being a serious contender able to knock off the lakers. the spurs have a poor record agains the lakers the last couple of years.
Until they can matchup and at least get to an even won/ loss record with them forget any chances at any more les.
