i remembered last year we were in the brad miller + john salmons trade talk also...anyone knows why things didn't work out? imagine we have them on our team
apparently the Bulls are shopping him..
I haven't checked his contract information since I'm on my phone and it would take a while, but I don't think it's too bad..
He's a very good shot blocker, very athletic, decent rebounder, and has developed a reliable mid-range J..
I don't think it'll happen since we already have enough new players and we're clearly having some chemistry issues, so adding another new guy could hurt..I just think it would be interesting and could potentially address a need(depending on the contract, I didn't look it up)..

4.7 mil this year 6.2 next year
Basically Mason and Mahinmi works
4.7 million this year and a qualifying offer for 6.2 million next year. You get his bird rights to go with it. If you renounce his rights, it clears cap.
I proposed this about in July, here: http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131938
...or Mason and Haislip.
I'd be for it but we aren't moving on anything right now. It could be interesting if he is still on the market at the deadline though.
What for another big ?
Tyrus Thomas would be a great pick up for the Spurs, and one that would have a place in the system, since he can, defensively, do what Haislip was brought in for. he can even provide the highlight reel dunks on offense too.
In fact, his shear athletic ability would force the issue on fast breaks. With both jefferson and Thomas capable of big finshes off the break, a few easy dunks in transition per game would be unavoidable.
I say do it if at all possible. The addition of a player like Tyrus Thomas, and assuming the exit of some of the older/less athletic players, would complete the spurs current transition into a younger, quicker team. I won't do any hypothetical rosters, so just do one in your head...
Pretty impressive right?![]()
TT would be great for us. But this is trade number 3242909283740 that would benefit us that is total pipe dream.
Tyrus would be great if you're rebuilding... He basically has a incredibly low basketball IQ, which he complements with freakish athleticism. I doubt Pop would play him at all this season, but he would be a nice addition for a year or two down the road...
A chair has a higher basketball IQ than TT. Then again, a chair doesn't have his athletic prowess. So there, it's just a matter of picking your poison
I don't think Tyrus Thomas has poor basketball IQ. I think he just wants the spotlight.
I think that although he is not big for his position, he could still eliminate any concerns about team height by eliminating the need to use small ball for the sake of quickness.
Of course I kinda think Blair has already done that, but whatever.
of course he would be great....but I really doubt it will happen...
TT is a guy who has a good value around the league because he is a young big that has proven he can play, even if the road has been bumpy along the way. Combine that with the fact he makes 4.8M and is expiring, and you have yourself someone that will probably bring you some talent.
