So I just bought a new HP desktop with windows 7 and it is DAMN nice.

The only issue that I have (which I've been having for three straight days) is that the entire computer will randomly freeze.

    The mouse won't move

The control alt delete doesn't work

    It is just frozen.

Anyone have this problem with W7??? Any advice?

I HATE holding the power button down and manually restarting it... I know its not good for the computer...

If you just bought it, I would exchange it and see if the next one does the same.

    This.

I have 4 computers all running Windows 7 (2 64bit, 2 32bit) and I dont have this problem at all.

You could also try making sure you have all of the latest drivers for your hardware.

Yeah, drivers could be an issue, or a bad stick of RAM or any number of things. At this point, I think there is no need to waste time troubleshooting since any store should easily exchange it.

True, but i'd hate to take it all apart and send it back when it's really been only three days.

How do I check tosee if my drivers are updated?

Okay I figured out why it's freezing....

Before every manual shut down, I found it saying:

WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.

So what do I do there?

If you have a lot of time and patience for inane questions, you might want to try tech support. There is a chance it's a known issue with your model. I have found that hp is very prompt in replacing defective hardware, if that is in fact the problem.
