Ok, I am about to buy a NAS for my home. I would like at least 1TB storage, DLNA compliant, and remote web access, some kind of automated backup of my systems. Any extra features (bittorrent, etc) are gravy. It will be used primarily for backup of the computers (windows 7 pro [64], windows 7 starter [32], windows vista [64], and windows XP [32]). I also want to purchase an xbox so that I can hook it up to the tv and stream movies, and/or music directly to my home entertainment center. So my question is, do you guys have any suggestions for which one to buy. Oh, and I don't want to spend more than 300 total. I would only go over that if I am floored by the feature set.

I have looked at the Mybook World edition, and it seems good, but please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Edit: the reason why I am not sold on this completely is the lack of ability to use any raid configurations, and if I am going to back up all of my stuff to the NAS, I don't want to keep all of it on my laptop for safety.

    RAID 3 or 5 is a must.

I've had a ReadyNAS NV+ for 3 years now (before Netgear bought them) and so far so good.

    lol!

I ended up getting the Western Digital MyBook World Edition II 2 TB NAS. It is 1 TB Mirrored and does everything else I want it to. I also decided against the xbox and got a WD TV Live.

Sorry Slomo, I dont have 500+ to spend on this, so I wont be able to get the readynas NV+

Yeah, it has become crazy expensive since the netgear purchase. They use to have special bundles all the time before which made it much more affordable.
Mirroring is good from a safety point of view - I always cringe when I see people storing all their photos on cheap USB HDDs without any real backup - or even worse having CD backups stored incorrectly, which pretty much makes them unusable.
The best feature of the ReadyNAS is how easy it is to expand and of course the RAID functionality.
