Do you guys drain your sprinkler system when it is going to freeze? My first winter having one and i am not sure if that is necessary or not. If it is, how the do you do it? Went out and looked and couldnt really tell.

    You can rent/borrow one.

Only way I've ever done it.

There are different ways to do it depending on your system, one would even include an air compressor but you have to make sure you don't use a pressure that the pipes can't handle.

I guess the real question is if it freezes that deep.

If the pipes are 2 feet undergound, they should be okay. If you don't have an air compressor, you can always just go around the system & unscrew a few sprinkler heads. If it's not going to stay below freezing for a few days, you won't have to blow out the lines.

Just take the pipe and blow it. Make sure you get a good grip and jerk it back and forth in case anything is stuck in there. You'll know when you are done because it will be all over the place.

I was thinking 2 feet? I feel sorry for the installer.
I would have needed a rock saw to bury mine 2' deep at the house.
