Could Duncan ever beat King James and Kobe Bryant for Season MVP, or is the name recognition for both players to much for him to overcome?

He's never going to actually win another one, but he should be in the top 5 consideration this year IMO..off the top of my head..if I look at it, maybe I could find 5 guys that deserve it more..in general, I would say he's easily a top-5 candidate though..

The fact that he has 2 is very impressive though, he's in great company..combine that with the Finals MVPs, and not many guys can match his resume..

Lebron is undoubtedly the MVP right now though..Cleveland is #1 in the NBA record-wise, he puts up the best stats AND he's clearly the best player in the NBA IMO..I don't think anybody will take this from him..

I don't really care about the award though..

If San Antonio can get the best record in the West then it will be a 50/50 between Duncan and Lebron. But I highly doubt it.

He should be given that his efficiency this year is off the charts, he's carrying the team, and averaging 20/10, but no, he's not in the conversation because of his media profile.

No-one said the NBA is fair.

LeBron is the only guy in serious discussion for MVP because he is so far ahead, it isn't even funny. Tim can never be in serious discussion for MVP again.

MVP doesn't really mean anything anymore. It hasn't really been about who's the best player in a given year for quite some time. During the 90s they'd give it to one guy because he didn't win it the year before and then give the guy who deserved it that year to the next guy, and once in a while they'd give it to Michael Jordan. With the 2 minute highlight from ESPN, nobody that isn't leading Sportscenter like Kobe or Lebron will ever win the award again.

He'll be in the running. But to be honest. TD doesn't care about stats and he has a very good supporting cast. So his numbers will never be in the same category as a Lebron James. Therefore, it will be very tough for him to win an MVP. As long as San Antonio stays elite, he will always be in the discussion

Nope. As long as he's taking days off (I agree with this btw) to rest.

It's all about minutes, and he's not going to play enough of them. Counting stats matter a lot when it comes to this sort of thing, and his are simply going to look inferior compared to the Lebrons of the world because he won't play enough minutes.

I'm certainly o.k. with that. If he's healthy and rested for the playoffs, all will be well. I'd rather see him win a Finals MVP anyway.
