Although this team has alot of offensive talent, they are challenged on the defensive end.They need a lockdown defender on the perimeter more than anything and they need to stop playing small.
The spurs dont need a C.Last season our defense was alot better with Bonner at C being backed up by Thomas at times. This squad on paper is better defensively.Our problem is our players who used to defend dont anymore
Parker:although was never a good defender, he was still quick.this year he is getting beat by everyone. Brooks and D will owned him
Hill:Great defender
Bogans: good defender at times but messes up the chemistry on offense. Mason should get his minutes
Mason:Great offensive weapon who hasnt played as of late.No idea why pop is doing that.He can defend better than parker, he shoots and cuts to the basket finding the open man. in my opinion he should get at least 15 mina game and bench bogans
Manu: he has been good on D.he's getting steals and is playing with heart.
Rj:horrible when he plays pf.he gets murdered in the paint. decent on the perimeter.
Duncan: Average defender these days. he is a step slower and since he has to help alot on D he gets beat by his man alot.
Blair: horrible defender.only rebounds but too slow to stay infront of anyone.
Dice: an ok defender. Thomas was better though.
Bonner: Bad defender.
Based on this its obvious our perimeter D is weak and thats wehy they are scoring alot in the paint.
Suggestion: trade for prince. He is long and atheletic and can guard, dirk, kobe, melo. Bogans cant do it.
Also our starting lineup is pathetic. No way hill and paker should start.Start parker and manu, let hill and Rj come off the bench.
One last thought:Everyone is bashing parker and Rj.Parker is injured and has played very well for an injured player on offense. He had 10 assists yesterday and we still lost.RJ is shooting a very high percentage.He is not getting more shots and its by design.if pop wanted him to shoot more he would have the ball more.he is better than any sf we had in recent years.
The bottom line: to win a le bring in prince and stop playing small ball.
