How many people can define "socialism"? This has to be the most overused word in today's political lexicon.
Seriously, don't cheat. Don't look it up. Make your best guess at what you think the definition is, and in a day I will post the actual definition.
My hypothesis is that most people - liberal or conservative - can't really define what it is, so why do they keep talking about it?

It's also worth noting that there are more than one model of socialism to work with.

According to CG's Dictionary of Political Cynicism, socialism is defined as any idealology held by people to the left of someone coming from the right. Conversely, idealology held by people to the right of someone coming from the left is defined as fascism.

Socialism is government providing for a minimal living standard for all of its citizens. Examples of socialism for the US government include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, unemployment benefits, Emergency Medical Treatment Act, welfare.
@mogrovejo: I mainly pick on stuffed shirts, big bull ters and overbearing pricks. I think it's safe to say you qualify as all three.
