Pretty much. I didn't expect too much goin into it as these spoof movies tend to disappoint the outta me. This one delivered throughout. I'd actually argue that it got funnier as it went along.

I've stayed away from the trailers and clips because I want this movie to hit me as fresh and funny as possible. It should have been released with Planet Terror for "GrindHouse" instead of that other ty movie..

What makes Dolemite so great is it's unintentional comedy. They actually thought what they were doing was good.

After seeing someone bump this thread I decided I was going to see it. Started watching on Netflix and halfway through just turned it off. I couldn't watch it anymore.

Some friends came over and we decided to watch a movie. They asked what I wanted to watch and I just said, "We're watching Black Dynamite." The movie was too good to watch by myself. I had to share it with my friends.

We ing laughed our ass off on some parts. I loved the part when Bullhorn is figthing some guy and he slaps him, and the actor goes "Mutha a." Quick bad edit and it's a different actor finishing up the scene.

I saw parts of the movie here and there. One of my favs was when some crew tells him gtfo and it looks like he is about to leave but instead locks the door to kick some ass. lol

I thought it was spot on as a spoof -- the overall look and sound of it was perfect for the Blaxploitation genre -- but just thought the actual script wasn't very funny. Clever parody it may have been, but at the end of the day a comedy is supposed to make you laugh, and this one just didn't do it for me.

I actually think that making it such a broad comedy was part of its downfall, though. Half of what makes something like Superfly or Coffy so amusing today is how seriously they took it when it was made. Most of the Blaxploitation films were meant to be legitimate dramas or crime films, with the laughs coming from sub-par acting and crappy production values. I think Black Dynamite would have been a better film if they'd played it like drama and the comedy had more of that unintentional feel. Purely my opinion, of course.
